RE: that LeMons race get heaps of press lately...

Read the regs inc the fine print......

$880 per driver. Min 5 drivers. $4400.

Then they charge $75 per pit crew member, and $30 each for anyone else.

$1000 car that needs a professional cage, race seat, 6 point harness, fuel cell.....

Drivers must have 3 layer suits or single layer and underwear, Hans device and helmet.

Add basic maintenance stuff to the car, tyres, brakes, fuel, and whatever else, get there, stay there, and come home.

Not so cheap now

So probably paying like 2k each once you add all that up / mods etc (and the need to find 4 others that are willing to drop 2k on a shitbox rally basically)

2k would get you a decent sim racer for home :P

Add the fact no one will actually be racing in a car they bought for $500; impossible to prove any sale didn't occur for that

apparently its not a receipts thing, its a estimate value thing. like, even if you didnt pay for things, its value is determined (somehow)

Think I'd have more fun buying a good set of semis + pads and hitting up PI on a normal trackday.

Speaking of which, havent seen you at the track ever.... get out there with the e85 drag monster you keep talking about

Calder or Heathcote?

I really want to do PI but Haunted Hills doesn't look half bad either. When is the next of either (can't make SAU Vic June PI)?

Edit: scratch that, I don't want to bin my daily until GTR is on the road.

PI is Sunday June 14th (Also 13th, but we're not attending the untimed "testing" Saturday)... Check the Motorsport calendar in the VIC section for the other upcoming Championship Round days

I won't be attending this round anyway... Things escalated in the garage the other night

I come along with you to one of the other rounds

I really need a race seat though

Sunroof + 6'2 + helmet don't work with the stock seat

Got the opposite problem... Try driving a car that used to be owned by the tallest hipster I know, who put lowered seat rails in it, so I need to stretch to get my legs to push the clutch all the way down.

We swap cars?

If you had the stock rails you would be even further away from the firewall.

The problem is your legs

    • Throwing my spoon to the soup here a bit.  When I installed a 044 back in 2012, along with the direct power mod, the car became very difficult to start. To a point I burned one starter motor as I was late for work and tried to get the thing going. With some tuning and careful use of gas pedal when cranking it became bearable. Trying to make this short as possible, but the 044 died after 2-3 years, after which I went with an AEM 320lph pump, which also died after about 4 years to my dismay. After that I went with a Nismo pump, and while trying diagnose an emissions problem, I noticed for the first time that my fuel pressure was 5bar/72psi on idle, and that removing the vacuum line did nothing. After monitoring the situation, and removing the direct power feed and going back to FPCM in attempts to remedy it, I noticed there was fuel in the pressure regulator vac line. Kept the FPCM, installed AEM external regu and the car became sooo much better in every way, including starting. And I had driven it like it was for 11 years.. Anyway, I agree these are likely two different problems, and the FP problem you just haven't noticed before. I do not know much about haltecs, but what first came to mind was the CAS, which probably is not there any more. So how is the wiring from haltec to gauge cluster? How is the battery voltage and alternator?
    • Your car was auto before? You have different diff ratio (auto vs manual i think? or n/a and turbo?)
    • +1 for getting a screen off alibaba, CarPlay/Android Auto is vastly better than whatever navigation cars had 10 years ago. I got an Android screen for my 2015 BMW, huge difference. Fully compatible with factory stuff including iDrive controls.
