For reasonably priced Japanese in a laid back bar environment (with good foood and booze) I recommend Hihou in flinders lane. Don't sit near the Windows though, they have these awesome eating sofas at the back of the joint

A La Bouffe on Toorak road is a nice little French bar/bistro - you can get steak and chips there and your missus can meddle with the fancier dishes they serve. Wasn't too pricey from memory.

Being French, they have awesome desserts too.

Since it's a date you won't be drinking heaps so most places should fit you in for that rate.

I went Morris jones other week on chapel food was good. Probably cost slightly over your budget but we had a lot of drinks
