Fark jury duty I got out of that shite. Never seen so many polished turds in once place when I went to the court.. Like sunshine with attempted class.

Leigh - can't protect your stuff however it's a myth she'd be entitled to anything as she has to demonstrate with evidence what she contributed.

If you get the bish pregnant tho son you fkd.

i've heard stories of people doing like gardening and shit, and yeah counted as contribution toward the house and taking half

fark that.

Those stories are bs. I deal with this stuff a lot.

When no kids are involved your both working etc you show what you put in and it's worked out on that basis. If she pays bills groceries but never mortgage she'd likely get nothing or minimal as its fair to expect she would pay for food regardless of your relationship status.

To get half needs to be marriage kids, large contributions

unrelated note: called for jury duty. always wanted to get called, i look forward to having miserable experiences like everyone else.

I wanna see Greg get called for jury duty and somehow be the one found guilty

thats f**ked just don't rock up after 10 days lol

on another note wasteland solicitors, if my gf wants to move in with me at my house (my mortgage) how do i protect my asset, prevent a defacto relationship / not loose half my shit? etc. (assuming when/if we breakup)

Don't have her pay for anything, bills or groceries or board, or do anything to maintain the state of the house including cleaning and blah blah

If she can prove it's her place of residency for years and that she contributed to upkeep you're gonna have a bad time

Yes provided there is clear evidence of contribution otherwise you get what you came with plus profits if any if both made repayments

ok i got this...

best way to do it...

go see a lawyer. give them a sitrep and they'll tell you what you can and cannot do to protect yourself. if all goes well, they'll make a piece of paper that says so-and-so is a roommate only, paying for rent and providing for themselves only. worst case, you basically walk out with a prenuptial agreement of sorts. may set you back a few hundred but beats a document you wrote up at home in comic sans.

your gf seems like a reasonable person... she'll have to sign it so may as well talk it over with her.

and if you havent got a will sorted, might as well do it while you're there.

( i recently learned that beneficiaries of your super is not considered part of the will, but an insurance payout.)

nek minit she sees the paperwork that she has to sign just to get a key to your joint, and thinks:

a) What an arsehole, I can't believe thats the first thing he's considering
and/or

b) Damn it, now I cant take half his stuff

and/or

c) Maybe he doesn't want me to move in ZOMGZ what did I do wrong?

Either way, her legs are superglued shut for the next month.

haha yeah it's been discussed already, and ofcourse I get the whole 'you obviously don't know me that well, I would never do that'.. but you never know gotta cover your ass (bitches be cray, etc.)

Every thief is a nice enough stranger until they steal shit from you

People used to ask me why I'd have to take a deposit for their gearbox changeover - I'd say, buddy, you seem nice, but so do the people who rip us off. It's not that you look like a criminal, but criminals look and act just like you.

This

Have dealt with lawyers on these grounds before, not for my own relationships inb4 Leesh comes at me bro.

The way it works, particularly if she doesn't have an income to support herself (which Leigh's mrs doesn't at the moment to my knowledge), is that the law has to ensure she's looked after / not left out on the street. Law always first and foremost seeks to return parties and victims to the status quo and if she's been sheltered with you for years contributing to upkeep of the shelter then she needs to be able to continue being sheltered at both hers AND your cost.

So even if they're not getting half your assets, unless Leigh has a big fk off payout saved up to ensure she's looked after post break up and subsequent move out, you're still gonna sell your house to give her the proportion she's owed.

UNLESS...you can prove adultery bobloblawloblaw but even then, it may not matter.
