nope. against da law mang.

they arent able to defect on private property, in yo garage, on yo driveway, in a shopping centre(unless they pulled you over from driving on a pubic road)

Shopping centre, whilst private property - Is still deemed to be of the public interest, so from my understanding you can still be pinned.

This is how they smashed people a few years back at the Autobharn evening car show thing that was on @ Chaddy and caused an epic uproar in the community over it all. Not that the Police cared of course and hasn't been another event like that since.

Whether a boom gate @ the front makes a difference or not I don't know.

I do know however from experience... If there is a offence reported (criminal) & Police believe someone that has committed the criminal offence is within that Private Property - then they are allowed to enter. So dropping a bottle would constitute this if they got technical.

It's a very grey area.

But yeah, everyone will probably get EPA's in the next 2-3 weeks. It's far easier to do a EPA than it is to do a defect. Less paperwork and you cannot argue it in court as easily as a defect.

Yeh but if the incident reported was letS say was violence, then that's what their priority attendance of the matter is. They still aren't allowed to then go and defect the vehicle as they really can't prove how the vehicle was transported there. Shopping centers may be different as they are generally gov funded so could be right but epark and all that are privately owned business'.

A very recent example. A mate of mine, renaldi. Has a very modified supra with a f**king stupid high mount.. They couldn't get the car started in his garage due to a cooler pipe. So every time the car did fire over they would gas it abit to keep it going.

Next door neighbour got pissed called the cops and said he was doing burnouts up n down the street lol.

Cops came, without a warrant they aren't allowed inside Renaldis house, but to avoid further issues he let them in to see the car. Cops basically said we cannot defect you here, even with the Vic plates on, but if we see this on the road ya f**ked.

This was only a few weeks back. So I don't really think having a report has much to do with it. The easier approach for them would be to black list the plates they took down and/or EPA them. Which apparently a lot of the people at JDMST got defected last night so I wouldn't put it past them for a black listing

someone threw a bottle @ a HWP car yeah? i'd be VERY surprised if every single car doesn't get an EPA in the mail.

JDMST is too fkn fashionable for me anyway.... i feel like a dinosaur at those events... dudes in dicktight jeans around their knees or in womens tracksuit pants for some reason... IMHO dont worry about defects.... throw 'em all in jail until they are old enough to dress properly

    • No-one in Aus/NZ would pay that much, because they remember when a turbo Skyline/Silvia was a cheap but awesome alternative to the mediocre shit sold here locally at the time. I'm sure over in USA there are enough trust fund kids who will have their R34 GTR, whatever the cost
    • I am stuck with enthusiast and very unhappy, even though Lumley, Shannons and Famous are all options, they all require a lock up garage, and my situation (basically a walled off compound from the street) is insufficient because the car is under a carport. I'm confident to resolve the situation I need to build a roller door with fascia in-front of my roller gate which is a solid opaque metal rolling gate. In any other universe moving the roller door 2 meters in-front of the garage door would still constitute the same amount of security but oh no. My insurance rates suck to the point of when I joined a market research for Enthusiast they were all surprised that I paid about 2-3x what other people were paying with Enthusiast when I asked them why their rates were so high. If I lie about having a garage, I save like $10 a month with enthusiast. (It's about $2600 p.a for 5000km of driving for a very unsustainable agreed value). Lumley has terrible reviews but @Duncan made me consider calling them when renew time came up - but their horrible reviews plus Christmas time made me... forget.
    • Not far. If all you want to do is know that they will reciprocate and move oil around a tiny bit, then a metre or so is all you need. Half metre fore and aft is enough.
    • That's the spirit!
    • It's fine. Basically if it has seized (eg due to moisture/rust in the bores) it will either break free on the starter or it won't turn....then you'll know it is freed up If it turns and doesn't start (reasonably likely) you will need to troubleshoot but most likely issue is a seized injector from moisture; same if it starts but missfires. Anything else could have happened (eg mice nibbling electricals) but the only way to find out is to close your eyes and hit the key I'd also change the fuel filter again after a few minutes of running as it may catch a heap of crap on first start
