eh.. i think its the white one..

still a toyota.. just suprised me for the price at second hand wholesale auction..

why do so many people give a shit about this pettett shit.. theres two threads now...FFS talk about seeking attention

Was typing up this response to the other thread when it got LOCKED so now my thoughtful contribution will have to be relegated to the wasteland but anyway......maybe if @R31Nismoid feels it fair then he can move it across - regardless.....

This has all been pretty interesting but I think it's largely hyperbole. I think people should take a step back and think about what the actual outcome vs the intended outcome will be.

I can understand the enthusiasts reaction, and I can understand the VicPol reaction.

VicPol will be rubbing their hands together - whoever created that facebook page with best intentions has effectively created a fantastic PR opportunity for VicPol to grandstand and appeal to the masses of society who are already offside with 'hoons' - to paint it as a targeted and vindictive attack on one of their own. Already they struggle to control a public image issue whereby people feel they can challenge police verbally, physically and legally at every turn. When you combine this with a communication medium that is already being widely panned for 'trolling' and other unsavoury conduct - it is the perfect scenario for people to amplify an already poor opinion of the car enthusiast community. Forget the details of the particular fine. It's a 'win/win' for them.

For car enthusiasts, I understand the frustration we have in that we are already disempowered by public opinion that won't allow us a voice of reason - even when members of this forum have attended so called 'open discussions' for current affair programs, the footage is so edited and twisted that any represetation always falls upon the lowest common denominator - the few 'bad apples' that bring the whole scene down. So to lash out and target one identifiable personality within the HWP probably seemed like a desperate (and as it turns out, effective) way of bringing attention to our 'plight'. But probably not the best way. When you couple a general misunderstanding of the community to a complete lack of understanding of the ADR laws which we're being held to - getting any sympathy from the general public is going to be futile. Case in point - this Dylan fella with the 86 is referring to 'factory spec DRL's' - I guarantee that 95% of people who heard that radio interview would have no idea what DRL's are. Thus they walk away with the same opinion that continues to hold us down - that we're all young, rebellious, overly opinionated and refusing to accept responsibility.

I don't know what the answer is - I would say 'write a letter' but we all know full well that it will fall upon deaf ears. I would say nominate a well spoken and informed 'enthusiast' to represent the community in a public debate - but that was tried and failed. So the best thing I can think of is to just continue to represent the community as best as you can - attend sanctioned events and behave accordingly, re-educate misinformed people about our community in an intelligent and level headed way when possible, and above all - resist the temptation to conform to the stereotype. If it means staying away from the cruise hot spots, driving defensively and sedately in heavy traffic, and not deliberately pushing your luck with outrageous wheel fitment, exhausts and ride height - we can try prevent a bad situation from continuing to become worse.

Yeh Missus bought it at a present birthday/christmas, with a couple of extras like the underwater thingo and a suction cap.

LOL my missus wanted to buy me one for Christmas, dam aren't we lucky mens. hahaha

So yeah, I'm just sussing it out not wanting to get a crappy one.

The amazing Juliette has it recorded and she's recorded it Foxtel -> Phone (better than nothing) and is currently uploading to youtube. Will post it here for ya when she's done :)

I'm shocked, they showed both sides of the story. There's hope for Australian media yet...

Now if the sheeple who believe that anyone copping flack from police must be a hoon doing something wrong, could be convinced otherwise...

    • It says 300ZX, does that make it an Aus delivered car? Funny how back in the day I just couldn't care less about Z32's and these days I am just in love with them. Back when Nissan was into pushing the envelope. 🤣
    • Hi guys, just after some guidance with an R34 sunroof that has stopped working correctly. It still opens and closes perfectly fine, but it no longer tilts/vents up or down. As a result, the rear of the glass now sags a bit as it drops down slightly in order to retract into the roof, but now it can't pop upwards into a flush position. I’ve probed the pins on the back of the switch connector with a multimeter and it seems like both switches (for open/close and tilt/vent) still work correctly. Any ideas on what it could be, or where I should even start in terms of diagnosing? I'm sure someone's had this issue before but I haven't been able to find anything online relating to this specific issue, most of the issues are with the seals leaking or the motor failing entirely. Thanks in advance!
    • Do you have some data like fuel pressure? It's really hard to say if you're still fighting a fuel system issue at this point. Could be something weird like the FPCM dipping out.
    • Yeah in that case, pulling the dent out. Event a very slight dent can create a lot of work filler-wise and there is a strong chance the panel won't be the factory shape when you are done (as the dent will result in a new high point created somewhere, then everything is brought up to that new high point... but the panel shouldn't be that high if that makes sense).  So you've filled and primed the panel and it is flat, why would you go back and remove the primer and add more filler?
    • Something else I have been faffing with while the car was off the road is making the AC work. Assuming the car isn't at a thermal limit the idea of having AC while waiting in line to go on track sounds delightful. I have actually been lugging around the weight of the entire system since 2018 when the RB25NEO went in without it working at all.  The main reason was in the first few events before I got around to re-gassing it the rubber hose that runs under the manifold had the factory heat wrap/sleeve fail resulting in this: ~2 years ago I purchased a complete used R32 AC line set but when I finally went to install it the line i needed was different where the expansion section is I found a local place that was able to replace the rubber section and re-crimp. They also added some modern heat sleeve to the hose Tight fit but fingers crossed this is the last physical piece of the puzzle needed
