Dad's 94 camry, key can't turn past lock. Steering lock is off. I can push the key in and turn it half way to ACC.

Have tried electric contact cleaner and graphite powder. No dice. What to do?

Last resort would be to change the barrel.

Went to MSY to buy an HDD because I need moar space. Despite internet saying there is stock, there was no stock. So disappointed. Looks like extra $5 for same thing at pccg it is. At least it was on the way to work.

Speaking of work, served Barry Hall and his missus tonight. Do rate :P

So, what I've learnt today is, job sites are filled with a job vacancy that they're forced to put it up by law even though they've employed someone.

Thanks guys for the advice, especially the approaching the company with decent cover letters and such - off to google on how to write one.

By the sounds of things the jobs your applying for would be unlikely to be at the level where preferred candidates come into it.

Try joining business breakfast groups or something you need to network if you can

Alex, pardon my ignorance but what is 'business breakfast groups'?

I've been applying for jobs without qualifications (only have pre-apprenticeship in plumbing) and wrote cover letter in accordance of said type of work - don't see the point in applying for a job that requires a qualification when you don't have decent one.

Googled just then, and apparently I did what they recommend people to do - honestly, myself I THINK I could have done better with company profiling.

Say if I want to chase my dream of being a plumber (honestly don't think it'd happen), I'd need to change my strategy with finding one. One of ways I'm told of is to put up my resume/cover letter on plumbing supplies stores - which meant I'd have to write generic which is apparently no-no.

what does the rest of your family do grant?

Dad's donations officer with seeing eye guide dog.

Mum isn't working.

Bro 1 labourer at the moment.

Bro 2 works at Coles (my old work actually but in dairy).

Don't worry about breakfast groups etc you won't find trades at those

If your looking to be a plumber you need to probably work the phone speak to plumbers see if they are looking for someone be proactive most apprentices are probably letting them down so if your keen chasin them you'll likely get a shot

I don't know but they live in a street where every house is a damn new MANSION.... and I don't mean like those new Metricon homes either.

Well, half of them is a mansion.

Alex, did take a crack at 'cold calling' it's mainly miss due to my age (26 now), think I'll do it 2 ways.

and the fact that you can't escape treesap driving down that street. Dunno how people can park outside. I'd be mad. The treesap there is horrendous.

    • Only needed to pull out the seats, center console and gear shifter surround, took a weekend and a fair few beers. You get to look forward to finding all sorts of weird shit under the seats and carpet, I pulled out a Chinese dudes passport from 2003, 220 yen and a condom wrapper 😆
    • Well, turns out not a lot happened from back then to now, between life again, and working on 3 separate other cars (only one of which was mine, and will now be departing the household soon).   So I decided with the whole "don't go outside, it's a cyclone!" Turning in to being not a whole lot, I ventured down to the garage, found a couple of water leaks in the shed (the main one I've already fixed), and then ended up "stuck" as it started pouring rain, and I didn't want to walk back inside in the pouring rain. This meant I ended up taking a look at the Skyline, and trying to work out what past Matt had been upto. I retraced a few things out from scratch, added the rest of the power feeds in that I needed for the indicators, and headlights. Double checked I'd wired a few things up correctly (and worked out how I wired a few things to begin with), updated my sparse notes. Added one of the ground points. Oh, and got really really dusty, as the car is quite dirty. Wrote up quickly what should be left for me to do with the wiring too. Adding the below photos more for my records than anything else. I need to make myself a proper book for the car that details everything, and how I've done it, but for now, this is my records... The third image is my most important one for me, and I need to draw it out into a proper schematic eventually. The last photo is my re-written list, I'd have put it on the white board, except I had to take the white board down to fix one of the water leaks.
