I called 3 dealers today and all said they have accepted deposits. RRP is not released yet but prices are said to be below VW golf Gti price which is $38,000

A dealer from NSW is a member of the ft86 forum or whatever it's called, he's been told that people will be pleasantly suprised with the price. I'm happy to pay $35,000.

Deposit will be refundable... Probably be like $500 or so. Once I get it than I'll try sell the 33

Fark...I want one but I'd probably have to sell the bike or Skyline, the former being too young in my possession and the latter not being worth selling. I have three regos/insurances as is :/

Rego should be for the driver not the vehicle :/

Are Subaru taking orders too? I was torn between who you'd go with. Subaru know their boxer engines (servicing etc.), but Toyota had the best exterior look IMO. Subaru interior looked better from concept pics.

Probably best engine under 140k

err, i THINK ou are forgetting the mighty RB20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

revs to 11ty and makes POWAH!!

best engine EVAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

R32 for life yo

Probably best engine under 140k

I reckon, 286rwkw stock and with a re-map of the factory ECU +100kw gains to be had.. awesome grunt

Let me know if you find any TE37 superlaps 19x10 +35 ish.. and 19x9 +20ish or any good looking rims really, also 20s are good too

For those that are thinking of buying an 86, what has swayed you into buying it?

As from a car enthusiast point of view one could argue it doesn't offer better performance/handling of the s15 of 10 years ago.

Understandable though if you want that new car purchase, updated interior and arguably less cop trouble.

In saying that I hope it is a success, so other manufacturers can bring out cheap RWD coupé sports cars.

Too bad it only comes in a family boat!

Emotionally, for me it's the idea of a brand new, reliable car with modern everything. It wouldn't be as fast as my Skyline, but everything else would be better about it. Lowered on a nice set of wheels and I'm done. I've hated the look of new cars for the last 10 years...everything looks like a mish mash of ergonomical f*** up compared to the 90's and early 00's. Toyota haven't made anything good looking for 10-15 years IMO.

Logically, it's the answer to the question, what do we have these days in the way of good value sports cars? All the traditional Jap imports are getting old, unreliable and boring. In the new car market, anything good looking (sweet f*** all) and decently quick (370Z, STi, R32) is a $60k+ affair. I think this car will have a brilliant little niche to itself...perfect sports car for young people.

    • All I can say Duncan is good luck and I hope that Neil did not run any E85 in Cheryl. I have recently experienced the full spectrum of fuel tank issues in my R33's that had been caused by E85 and contaminated fuel. When you take the cover off the top of the tank and have a look inside you will get an understanding of how easy it will be. Best case situation is clean fuel with minimal contamination. My GTR was like this and it was a very simple operation to just grab the fuel pump carrier bracket and slide it up and out of the tank. My three GTS_T's had different levels of fuel contamination that was probably caused by E85 in the fuel.  In the worst case all of the metal components in the tank had rusted to the point where there were pieces of rusted metal swirling around in the tank. This required the removal of the exhaust, the tailshaft, the complete rear cradle and the fuel tank. The components in the tank were that rusted that it took days to get the fuel pump carrier and the mounting brackets out of the tank. When the tank was finally cleaned, everything inside the tank had to be replaced. With the tank all back together I could then reinstall it in the car along with everything else that had to come out. Good luck and I hope that you find a clean tank.
    • It is a two door. It is black and also still has the OEM wheels and stereo. Exact model would be KR_R32RGFEL_SS According to GTR-Registry.com is a 2 Door Coupe; RB20DE; 2WD no HICAS; MT.F5; (11L) Projector Headlamps and Fog Lights; (12_) Electronic Active Full Auto Air Con (Climate Control); (13-14SS) V Selection -- Which seems to be accurate description of my variant. Will try to upload a few pictures soon. The OEM wheels look like the below image. Image is taken from the goo-net-exchange website.
