So I bought an R33 gearbox in Sydney. They are large and around 60Kilos. Now I want it in Melbourne. Has anyone had any joy in this area?

The names I have been given are:

Toll

Couriers Please

Pack and Send

I have a business address to drop off to.

not in Sydney

however most companies that import stuff from China will have wooden pallets they throw away

so if you can ask whoever your buying the box from to find an importing company of some type they will most probably have ones lying around

ok the quote from those guys was stupidly low :). You guys are champions.

Next question, anyone know where to get those gearbox sized pallets from? ;)

Where did you buy from?

Also which suburb?

Get one of the guys coming to Nationals to bring it for you and collect from Shepp.

Slabs of beer = payment

;)

LOL

Slabs of JB cans more like it for anyone who knows how heavy a gearbox is (not to mention a total cvnt to transport cause of the space it takes up and theyre not exactly easy to fit in a car) :D

Ya these gearboxes are huge lol. Flew up for the weekend and checked it out from out near Penrith, took it to my brothers house in Glebe, dumped it there and flew home :). I can get some friends to load it on but my brother doesn't have a car (heh) so going for a spin to try and spot a pallet is difficult. Even after sourcing one, sawing up a pallet is difficult because I'm in Melbourne, slabs are the order of the day here.

Don't use TransDirect. They refuse to pickup second hand gearboxes/engines because of oil spillage, even if it's a clean and drained box. They will collect if it is reconditioned or brand new, though.

www.e-go.com.au are always cheap from Vic to NSW and back. But for things in WA / the outback, TNT are a cheaper option.

I try not to do dodgies with couriers cause they have a bad habit of leaving items at unknown depots for weeks because truck drivers refuse to carry them, without having the initiative to actually tell you this...you should be right on a once off though. Courier flow chart:

Problem?

Yes - > Deliver

No - > Leave item in the corner of a depot, someone else will sort it out.
