Is the general public allowed access to this patent?

If you consider that the government represents the general public, then yes. Moreover, when the patent lapses or expires, there is a complete and accurate description of how the product is made, that is made freely available to everyone.

Alright, maybe I used the wrong word.

Anyway, I bet you wont find any head chef giving out the recipies to his best dishes.

But even then, its not like you are ordering blind. Invariably the menu lists everything in the dish.

To drag this back on topic, what it comes down to is the proportions and the way they are mixed. To use the cooking analogy, you can give two chefs the exact same ingredients and they can come up with two dishes that are entirely different.

My point was not that Roil should list the proportions or how they were mixed (the "reciepe") but that there was no reason why the contents (the "ingredients list") shouldn't be made available. Its not going to divulge anything a half decent chem lab couldn't find out anyway, nor is it going to provide a complete receipe for how to make the stuff. It would just allow a discerning consumer to check what is in the product.

Instead, we are stuck guessing and emailing suppliers, etc.

Well I am all for sending Roil into a chemical Lab that can tell us what is in it, oh wait I left my in my other wallet :D

Well, that's the problem isn't it? It stops the consumer who can't afford the cost, but not a competing commercial entity who probably can afford the cost...

If it was that easy how come no competitor has done this and said, "Look Roil contains these bad things but our product doesn't!"

Sounds to me like that would be the easiest way to drown a product, either that or they all contain chemical baddies and dont want to disclose what is in their batch for public scrutanty for fear of backlash?

That's pretty much what my mechanic (and the Oil Extreme site) says. Whether or not Roil contains chlorinated paraffins, take a read of this Oil Extreme article. Sure, calcium carbonate may be bad for your engine too, but I've not seen anyone say such a thing as yet with reasons why. Of all these additives you can buy, Oil Extreme is the only I've seen which says why its ingredient is better than the others. And they actually tell you what they use. Doesn't that defeat the argument of anyone saying that companies keep their ingredients secret to stop people copying them? How is Oil Extreme still in business if everyone is copying them, knowing the secret ingredient?

If anything, Roil is a copy of Oil Extreme, at best. I'm not saying that that's a reason to not buy it. To be honest, I would much prefer if Roil *was* a copy of Oil Extreme with calcium carbonate and didn't have any chlorinated paraffins. But while it remains a secret, there's no way of finding out if it's bad for your engine in the long term.

I don't have time to go visit my mechanic tonight, might have to make it next week now.

question for those that used it...

I can't work out how much to use?!?!?!?!

My SR20 is supposed to have 3.7L of oil in it (including the oil filter)

The ROIL bottle says to use 1:14 for engine oil, but then the ROIL bottle has measurements in Ounces or some american crap..

So how much do I use for my engine oil?

what is the conversion for litres to Ounces?

The first time you add it, 70mL per Litre of Oil

Every time after that 35mL per Litre of Oil

And on one side of the bottle there is metric markings and on that small filler thingy on the top, one side mL other side Oz :)

Its alright... anyone who's actually tried Roil knows wot your on about... i think RiggaP sumed it up best, "The skeptics are missing out".... but y beleive him, after all i paid him large sums of money to say that, even though i had nothing to do with him getting it... and then there's s13drifter, if any of you go back that far, will recall, that he posted the second ever post about roil, before any benifits of roil were reported, yet from his own previous roil experience reported the exact same benifts that everybody involved in the trial got back to us with.... and he had the balls to speak out about it long before the good reports were coming in...

Krawler... wake up buddy, your not aguring with ppl who are taking my word for it, your arguing with countless people who have tried it for themselves... have you even read the reports ppl on this forum have written about Roil, or have you just come into a conversation to which you have no prior knowledge, and think that your going to start convincing people against a product, which you for one haven't tried, whilst arguing against those who have...

I went through the BS, your not going to say anything that hasn't already been said, go back to the thread called, "A must see for all performance enthusiasts", then you'll realise the utter BS i was up against, yet i put my money where my mouth was, gave out free sample trials to those who had the balls... everyone come back 110% positive, so much so, that from a free trial, and a bit of factual research (not the stuff your throwing up), Ska decided its worth paying money upfront, to have the luxury of buying it wholesale...

I even did the right thing by the forum and donated money back to it through the sale of Roil... Krawler your a brissie boy, come see me, and convince me otherwise... and those sites... not one of them mentions Roil... try again...

    • Hey all, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.  I have a 2008 Japanese import V36 coupe with nav but without Bose. I bought one of those AliExpress android screens, which for the most part works really well.  The only thing that doesn't work is the air con controls (well sort of) and the factory reverse camera.  The AC can be controlled fine but it doesn't report the change in temp and mode to the screen, and the volume knob/other audio controls from the panel don't register on the learning app.  I am pretty certain that the problem is the difference in the head unit between base model (Nav but no Bose) 2007-2009 coupes and anything after 2009.  Mine is the one with the blue connector all the way to the right as seen in this forum post:  The reason I think this is there is one wire left over that doesn't fit anywhere on this head unit, or in the factory screen which also uses different connectors to more recent versions.  I've seen the upgrade from OWC, and have sent the guy a message on eBay but no response yet.  I also don't particularly need the whole kit, just *maybe* an adapter for this one cable.  Did anyone else here have the same problem, or have any insight about what I can do to get this working?  I have been in contact with the seller but all they seem to be able to do is ask for more pictures and videos. Minor edit to add:  I have been researching and found a screen on Aliexpress that actually specifies my head unit in the listing, so these things do exist.  I will contact the seller to see if the wiring adapters are interchangeable with other screens.   Thanks in advance!
