I am hoping someone knowledgable with installing various engine management systems into cars other that skylines can offer some advice... Yes I know it's not a Skyline!!!

My dad has just bought a E30 BMW as a project car with the 2L straight six in it, he is going to turn it in to a track car. We are going to probably get a gt3071r turbo for it with a 0.64 rear on it, with a cheap Chinese exhaust manifold to suit.

Question is, what would be a decent but reasonably priced engine management solution to suit such a car with that turbo and supporting bits and pieces?

Another thing, I had a look at it tonight and it's got a distributor... How difficult would it be to hook a CAS from say a skyline up to it and then (with an engine management system) try and convert it to individual coil on plug ignition?

Thank you..

how much power are you going to be pushing this engine? the Vipec V44 will run this engine with ease with the distributor.

If you are not going to need to lean on the ignition system there is no real reason to change the triggers, also if you must change them look at the other trigger systems available, ie crank triggers.

I just did an E30 Racecar. If its a later E30 it will have Motronic CAS, if its an early model just buy the Motronic CAS from a wrecker. I used a Haltech Platinum and find them unbeatable.

Is the Dizzy on the nose of the cam or in the side of the block? If on the front of the Cam its got the motronic Trigger.

I'm not really sure what it will do! 220rwkw would be nice as it's a light little car. Thanks for the info

Yep it's got the Motronic ECU, distributor is on the end of the cam at the front. Good to hear you got one running with the Haltech, another possible option. I am actually now thinking a full replacement ECU might be overkill for his requirements. I came across this kit:

might even give that a try, a cheap and dirty solution to get more fuel into :action-smiley-069:

Anyway thanks for the info everyone. Back to Skylines now!
