Okay so I post mainly on the UK GTR forum... But been told that you guys might be more helpful. So here it is in a nut shell.. long nut shell ;)..Okay I searched and searched but didnt find a problem anything like mine. I know about the coil packs, the ignition chip, the plugs and the CAS. This one has me boggled.. Oh and the harness. To start I have a 1993 GTR fully built.

So I had the car entirely re-wired. Why not its a 93 and 93 wires were never ment to last 20+ years. So no problem with the loom, unless its loose but i checked.

So thursday night the car sat still for 30 minutes while we tuned the car for cold start. NOT A SINGLE PROBLEM.

So friday I take the car to get something done. Car starts up PERFECT no problem, sounds awesome. I wait a few minutes to let it warm up and then right before I get in the car it dies. I try to start it no luck, the mechanic tells me to check the main connector near the firewall, he was right a little lose, but I fixed it and good to go.

I drive about 10 miles if that and then the car starts to misfire, 2 blocks later its worse, sounds like a boat, as my friend says.. So I stop the car and have it towed to the house. Now the car wont start at all.. Just cranks but no turn over.

Get it home, I take out all the coil packs, the chip and put everything back to make sure it was not a loose connection. Car starts up NO PROBLEM. I even drive it a couple of blocks to make sure... GOOD TO GO..

Then the next day I go to start it up.. Bam no luck... wont start... So I remove everything again and then bam it starts up but is misfiring. So i start to unplug each coil-pack for a second to see which cylinder is going. Yet each time i disconnect the coil pack the misfire gets worse, so no luck on determining the cylinder.

So now I am sitting here trying to figure out what the hell is wrong. The mechanic is worthless as he doesnt care, and honestly I dont care about him.

Oh not sure what the hell this means, but I charged the battery fully yesterday. When the car runs the alternator is charging the batter. I turned the car off, lights, lamps, everything. Yet two hours later the batter was dead.

Update to these issues.. The battery was replaced as it was totally dead.. So now there is a new battery in the car.. I also did a test on the coil packs. Was told to use a multi meter set it to 200omhs and then test the postive and negative terminals on the coil pack.. All 6 read a 1.0-1.1 with a .8% error. So I dont know if i tested something wrong or if thats okay as I am running SplitFire coil packs.. Also I checked the plugs, the fuel and so fourth.. ALL good to go..

I NEED the car to be running by Friday... PLEASE HELP... thanks

Ok so with the new battery its still no good? I would start by checking all the new wiring loom. Check all the connections and make sure none of the pins have backed out of the plugs.

Check all fuses too.

Is the fuel pump priming? Take the fuel line off after the fuel filter and check fuel is coming out when cranking.

What ecu?

it sounds to me like a bad connection somewhere. you said that if you disconnet everything and reconnect it that the engine runs. so i would recommend dicsonnecting and reconnecting one thing at a time until you can start your car then focus aroumd that

    • Yes...but look at the numbers. There is a tiny tiny fraction of the number of Joules available, compared to what is used/needed. Just because things are "possible" doesn't make them meaningful.
    • Thanks for taking the time to post that ! If anything changes or happens please do update us.
    • Somehow Vertimass/Oak Ridge National Labs has figured out a catalyst that can convert ethanol into C9-C10 hydrocarbons in basically a single step without ending up with a bunch of ethylene or similar waste products: https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2023224867A1/en I still don't think anything like this will keep us from needing to transition to EVs regardless along with all kinds of other electrification, but things like this will go a long way towards alleviating the problem of how to electrify things like planes. Renewable diesel is seemingly an easier problem as well, Chevron is already running refineries for the stuff and the primary feedstock is tallow and other waste fats from agriculture.
    • Ok so I have sorted everything with my uniclutch and  i can offer up a bit of feedback and some things that might help others.    I found problems with factory damper line. Weird shit and had trouble with peddle adjustment    I used this https://au.gktech.com/products/r33-gts-t-skyline-braided-clutch-line?_pos=2&_sid=22b01b9b9&_ss=r Also when adjusting peddle leave a bit of play. You can get into a over stroke condition easy.. Make sure you can push the slave forward after adjusting to confirm fluid can return to master then you will need to pump it up heaps…..not sure why but that’s how it is.    last thing the splined adapter is machined perfectly. If your input shaft is old like mine was I would put a bit of valve grinding paste on it and stroke it like a 15 year old. Just to give it a tad more clearance and to better match it to the spline.    reason is on a near flat shift I have had situation where the peddle returns a millisecond after you lift from the clutch. No slip or anything but I reckon this is due to tolerance on the spline being way tighter than stock clutch and binding for a sec. I think this will go away but also my spline was old. Box is old so I guess I should have checked better. It’s a super neat fit.    it feels light as and holds awesome without any noise
