hello all, i havnt yet bought a car (see my thread below) but am leaning towards one of two R33 skylines, one is a completely stock 95 GTR V-spec with 55'000 k's, the other is a lightly modded 95 GTR with 72'000 k's, latter has splitfire coils, 18-10 rims, pod filter, heavy duty clutch and cat back exhaust.

my goal is a responsive and reliable 260 awkw or 280 rwkw, i'm looking for fast spool up, and good throttle response as i plan to street drive the car as well as a few track days, am after RELIABILITY, i am thinking the following mods might give me what i'm after

  • HKS GT-ss turbo's
  • APEXI power FC ECU
  • Z32 AFM's
  • turbo back exhaust with high flow cat
  • heavy duty clutch
  • 700cc injectors (gives room if i want to go more latter)
  • bosch 040 fuel pump

what else would be suggested for such a set up? and all up, how much am i looking at spending on this?

Ok, the thread below this one has that information on there.

I realise you're new here, so here's a link, read it from start to finish and you will have a much better idea of where you stand; http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/236467-definitive-guide-to-building-300-330awkw-gt-r/page__view__findpost__p__4138704

In future please search first, you'll struggle to come up with a question that hasnt been asked and answered before.

duly noted, cheer's mate :) as you know it can be a little daunting trying to find the right information in such a massive resource as this forum, again thanks.

So much to weigh up when it comes to buying. It all depends on your initial outlay and what you are willing to spend down the track. If you want the better car (assuming they are both in good nick), then go the V-spec and spend more later. Before you buy either one, get the engine compression tested which will give a rough idea on engine condition.

If 260-280 kw is the goal then go for R34 N1/2860-7 turbos to retain max response, (will still pull a over 300kw fairly reliably if pushed).

Power FC will do just fine, plus cam gears.

A good clutch is needed to hold the power, my choice was Nismo Supercoppermix Twin.

Fuel pump won't be needed but injectors will need to be min 550cc and will be heaps for that power goal with room to push up closer to 350kw. Ensure you get a full exhaust with good dumps, big front pipes, high flow cat and about 3.5" cat back exhaust.

Standard air flow meters should see around 300kw, give or take 20kw, so will be OK for now.

Newer coilpacks are better to have for peace of mind, although the standard ones perform really well even at higher power levels.

That gives you a quick heads up but above all - SEARCH, as the site has bucket loads of info, particularly on what you want.

dont go Z32s, no need, go twin nismo's, direct swap and easier to fit/install/mate up

go for the one with splitfires if the conditions are roughly the same, one less thing to fail/die (coilpacks common mtbf part in GTR/GTST)
