Apparently the entire track will be resurfaced in December 2012 - January 2013 - so it will be shut for approximately 2 months. Following the V8SC 500kms and few other car events race track suffered some wear and tear, causing bumps in turn 1 and in major braking areas. Not sure when they resurfaced it last - I am guessing it was in 2002-2003.

Can see a whole heap of PB's in 2013 if they get the bitumen mixture right - it would be shame if track loses its grippiness.

Can they bring the old surface to Sydney and lay it in a paddock somewhere :)

LOL

If not Sydney we have a heap of land here in the hunter that could be used for a track. We just need to the tinkler motorsport group on the case I think.

Interesting. The surface is the best in vic already. Like said above I wish they would resurface other places first. Winton... Calder... Sandown... Thunderdome??? haha All very poor surfaces.

Tetley insists that the V8SC's are mainly responsible for the bumps at QR, particularly in the braking zones. For someone who is there a lot of the time I guess that he would be aware of any deterioration on a regular basis.

Yeah, Sandown is a bit of a shocker - I'm slow and even I thought its too bumpy, I can't imagine how you fast guys feel driving there. Maybe V8SC guys should kick up a stink so track owners are forced to fix other tracks too ..........while still maintaining current entry prices.........dreaming.

    • Yeah do that, it’s only 120kAUD!!! You should have that sitting in the ashtray
    • If you are genuinely considering trying to get this engineered, I would strongly advise finding the engineer that is happy to sign that off first before you put the hole in your car.  I've seen cars get defected for this and not be able to be put back on the road as no engineer they spoke to was happy to sign if off.
    • Apologies, while id like to put the MAF as close to the TB and relocate the recirc, this may be too much work. Will most likely end up just putting it on the original AFM spot ( onto/next to the airbox ).  Was going through nistune, found a pretty nifty doc on this. Nistune MAF Notes. Also, i was looking through the bay, and there seems to be a tube/line connected from the A/C to the intercooler piping ( Between the smic and the recirc), what does this do as the crossover fmic piping doesnt have any connection? plumbing? not sure what you call it but the nipple thing ahah.  Also, been reading up more about crossover fmic in regards to the legality of having the hole drilled for the piping, this would most likely need to be engineered right?
