Is the air temp sensor part of the AFM on R32? Those of you with RB20DET running on PFC... Do you get an air temp reading on FCC?

I cant remember if I had a reading last night or not... But I dont have one now!

Regards

I dont think... can hook up though, just mirror wiring as per RB26DETT.

I am only a novice on these PFC's and have had to work it out myself. They certainly aren't space shuttle stuff by any stretch

SK for your 26/30 using GTST PFC , can it use the GTR's air temp sensor ?

Not sure what you mean by "use", I can plug the standard GTR air temp sensor into the Power FC, just add a wire to GTST ECU plug using the standard GTR pin number. The R32 GTST Power FC does have a 3 stage air temp correction table coupled with the 2 stage boost correction table for fuel. It also has a 3 stage air temp correction table for ignition which is independant to the 2 stage boost correction table for ignition. This gives a pretty wide range of corrections for both fuel and ignition that can be separately referenced to inlet air temp.

This is accessed via the Datalogit software, I don't think the Commander has access to this area.

Hope that helps

SK - did you use a proper GTR temp sensor, or is there a generic item that is available?

Very interesting thread, as at the moment I am running a temp sensor from Jaycar, that has a thermocouple that sticks into my intercooler piping

Would this work the same for R33 PFC as well?

thats my spin...

Chris, I am just going to do as Skid said.... Actually robbed a redundant A/C spade out of my mates ECU plug today.

All I need to know is, Does the BNR32 sense in the air box? (doubt it) Or in the positive duct after the intercooler... (Would make sense to me)

sorry to go off topic a bit...

hmm as far as i am aware RB25DET doesn't have a air temp sensor, am i right? or is it in the AFM?

my cars never had one anyway as the loom to the microtech is still like new (never been cut or soldered). a mate has given me a sensor of his series 4 RX7 and said give it a go.

wheres the best place to locate this? before the TB or after in the plenum?

The air temp sensor out of the series 4 wont work unless the microtech has been calibrated for it in the factory. I actually had this problem on a series 4 where the stock sensor was still being used with the microtech and it read from well into the negatives up to about 10-15 positive which equated to about 80 degrees i discovered when i got the correct sensor.

The default setting is for an AC Delco sensor that you can pick up for peanuts at you local holden dealer or auto electrician but is about 5 times bigger than the s4 one

I have tried a few Nissan places in Adelaide today for the std GTR air temp sensor, no go:(

Does anyone know a Nissan dealer in Adelaide or Melbourne that stocks import / GTR parts? Im hoping to get it before the weekend so i can wire it up to my APEX Engineering PFc on my RB20, since im installing a new loom and all:)

i now this is an old thread hahaha...

but im running a rb26dett pfc in my 20...

now i need to swap my air temp sensor with a vl commy water temp sensor as im getting bad economy due to my cold start settings...

how do i swap them? were are they?

cheers

AIR temp and WATER temp are 2 totally different things. RB20 uses the hot wire in the AFM as an indicator of air temp. RB26 has a dedicated air temp sensor, located in the inlet plenum just behind the throttle body.

Cold start should not have that big an impact on fuel economy, unless the engine always runs cold.

This does not work

under ETC, SENSOR SW CHECK do you see a sensor called AIRT?

if you do, it will work as the PFC you are using has that sensor active and ready

if you don't then the PFC you are using doesn't support airtemp

hooking up a sensor to any wire will achieve zero (in fact it puts the PFC at electrical shock risk)

so if you have AIRT go for it, if you dont, dont bother

R32 PFC does not have AIRT, same as R33 as R32 PFC is remapped R33 PFC with VCT removed, map changes and injector changes

if you want the correct part # for the GTR air temp sensor open up nissan fast, load in an RB26 VIN

then goto the view of the plenum and intake , and youll see the GTR air temp sensor just in front of the throttle body

its the same physical part as the water temp sensor, just with a J on the end of the part #

well if your water temp is 80deg and your air temp is 80deg id say its summer outside or your compressor working hard

do you have a proper air temp sensor installed? where is it? what does ETC, SENSOR SW CHECK show for AIRT at idle?

hahaha.... i dont know were the air temp sensor is.. i dont know wat etc is and i dont know wat airt is at idle!

im trying to fix a problem i dont know anyting about.. sorry for my dumbness but thankyou for ur help
