There will be some sort of exemption policy for people who need to work, that article posted earlier even made vague reference to it... can't imagine it being free though

So 16% of the drivers cause 25% of accidents hey?

Well, whatever you do, don't train the remaining 84% who cause 75% of road accidents.

Training the majority, that'd be just stupid.

Here ends todays sarcasm lesson.

Love it

LMAOOOO legend

Side note; I dont see how a 17yo can be a fully licenced driver. Care to explain please?

EDIT: Just to confirm, by open license you mean no P plates and no L plates with the maximum available of 12 demerit points on your license?

Im from New Zealand, where we get our full licenses at the age of 16 and a half,

before moving over i rang up the transport agency and they confirmed im eligable for my opens.

So, in other words, they're discussing bringing in a new rule, but with more and more conditions that will make it more of a PITA to manage and enforce...

So, each police officer will have to:

  • check age of driver
  • check level of provisional license (P1 or P2)
  • check if there are any passengers who shouldn't be in the car
  • check that they're not in a restricted car for their level of license
  • check if they have an exemption to drive that car if it IS on the restricted list
  • check if they have an exemption to drive during those hours on a weekend

Where will it end?

Here's a thought...

All of the bans and restrictions they have implemented, or want to implement, are because they're not used to driving to said conditions/with power etc...

So what happens at the end of said restriction when they are 2 - 3 years older and STILL haven't driven in those conditions?

In theory they're older and more responsible. Of course some people never change. You might say that those some people were the ones who were causing all of the accidents before any of the restrictions though.

Yep, older and more responsible (the majority, anyway, as you mentioned), but the inexperience is still there as Matt pointed out.

It's a well-known fact that the older you get, the harder it is to learn new things and pick up new skills.

Very kind of you to make your comment general rather than specific. :P

(now how did I get that left heel scrambled up with my right toe)

I may be older and more responsible, and now set in my ways... But is that going to make me able to drive in heavier traffic of a night when I've never driven in it?

Or how about when I do get in a car with 4 passengers that I can drive for, how do I get use to them all talking when I've never experienced that before?

Education and attitude bending is the only way to fix bad driving and reckless driving...

    • I get into huffs with people when I suggest the MX5 looks so much better as a coupe than it does as convertible. Pretty sure I don't prefer the convertible version of anything. Good job on the hardtop! The next buyer will appreciate.
    • IMO wrap does have its uses, but like you said, quality wrap, and professional installation, would probably cost want a quality paint job does, but, the paint, if maintained, is basically for life, and much easier to touch up if required  In other news: it's pissing down here, with thunder, lightning and only some small hail "at this stage", luckily all "my" cars are undercover  I've also been contacted by a guy in Newcastle about the SS, he said he will come down next weekend for a look, we'll see how that transpires I guess 🫰
    • Nah, I'm not an a-hole, ha ha!   I do like the colour match. Some of the carbon fibre wraps are quite freaking horrible. There's one a local company I know uses, and it looks damn good! Also very very expensive per metre to buy! ha ha ha It might be cheaper to respray the roof than use the good CF Wrap, ha ha!
    • Please noooooooo 😭 As for wrap, no thank you mate, I've seen and used "carbon fibre" wrap before, and for these hard tops, they look soooo good when colour matched Like this >>>
    • That depends, someone might offer me a good price to resell it Mark... Ha ha ha!   I can get it wrapped in a really nice looking carbon fiber vynil if you want?
