the bottom graph looks more like a TE graph as it falls away, the top one barely falls away at all and that doesn't make sense as TE will always drop away as if you look at the second graph the power holds.

But then i could be totally wrong and confused :D

Almost identical setup we made 485hp at the wheels and I think it was hitting 19psi (max boost) at about 110-115km/h

Definitely some small improvements to be made but looks like you got the AFR's pretty spot on. Not bad for a street tune considering you have no idea what the torque is doing. It might accept more timing in the top end? Anyway still a decent result considering

I'm just setting up another boost gauge that has a 30psi scale, will check and record what the boost is doing on the street, hopefully it will remove some confusion.

The air fuel ratios need some more work, but considering they are not miles off I left it as is until I can get everything performing in the ballpark.

Ok so after checking the boost pressure on the road with a mate, we have found it to be 26psi dropping to 25psi.>_<

With this knowlege i will continue working around it to see what i can find.

may back the boost off to 20 psi as well until i know what is going on......

Are the JUN cams drop in? I'm assuming that since you haven't fitted the adjustable gears you haven't degree'd the cams in. Did they come with a timing card?

The cams are drop in items with a reduced base circle, thicker shims etc

There wasn't a card with them, so i just have them set as per standard

Yep, boost is the top line. I thought it was the 20psi line for a second then traced the line back. It had to be the top line as the bottom line starts at 10psi.

The AFRs look very good. You take a touch of fuel out of it, but not real need. Hopefully its an exhaust problem with the slow boost/low power.

Perhaps with the new boost setting you might be able to get a fair chunk more timing into it and make similar power.

cars running on BP ultimate

The exhaust is all explained in the first post.

As much as i sound like a tosser to say it.... it seems like the dyno is wrong??

I've owned 3 different setups in cars that have run low 11's one was running 126mph with 330rwkw in a vl

This seems quicker that all of them to drive, seems to turn the tires coming onto boost into 3rd in rwd only fairly easy in a straight lie too.

When we were first running it up, the most it would make was 24hp, because of some incorrect setting on the dyno, lol

Ok so, my car is shit, that's a good start.

but seriously

I always road tune my car, just do it myself with the data logit package etc.

Thought, hey why not throw it on the dyno and have a quick look at where i am at.

I'm about to upgrade the exhaust and thought it would be interesting to see what difference is made and was thinking of helping out this site with some real world data etc.

The dyno i used is a Dyno Dynamics with latest software etc, owned privately.

The owner has tuned a few cars but, he left me to my own to use his dyno etc and just go for it.:teehee:

This is great for me, because i love playing with this sort of stuff etc. Not awsome for when i would like support.

When i went i hadn't slept for 23 hours, because of night shift, yep, shit idea, so i really wasn't on the ball on the day either,

any way, results....

Dude..no I didn't laugh coz you said not to but..you're right..that's shit :-)

Reading that was like those 'starving in Africa' adds that make you take pitty! So here's my donation mate...

If you like pm me your details and I'll send you a red hot V2 Boost Controller. Make sure teh system is sorted then hook up the V2. You'll be bale to run whatever psi you like rock solid..

In fact it holds 60psi rock steady under test and to be honest I havent even tried to find its max. it's all in teh desin of the seat and teh speciallly imported ball for the gate that seals solid. Normally gated controllors have a hard metal ball on a metal seat..the V2 has a metal seat but the special ball is not metal or ceramic. It is hard but has some flexion so it seals tight. It's freakin magic!!

Cheers.

Haha, this is the best post yet, because i'm already running the new V2 Turbotech boost controller,

bought it from you a few months back

nothing against them, for the small price, it works well, adding an extra 10 psi it does the job.

Now we can all see the boost is dropping away, but its a fair amount of boost for these turbos.....

on the road i held it flat in 3rd and am seeing 1 bar at 4200-4300, which i thing is really not too bad, i'm not sure checking boost response on the dyno is the best way.

Cheers though for the offer mark, honesty it has good mid range and boost response for these turbos, it really is doing a good job, just not on the dyno.....

I dont think its very helpful making comments like this, there is no way your magical manual controller will help when it is obvious the wastegate spring is too weak to hold the manifold pressure.

  • 2 weeks later...

ok, so i thought id share an update...

I'm in the process of pulling the turbos off and replacing the dumps, front pipe and whole exhaust.

what i did find is while assembling the exhaust i must have mixed up two of the gaskets on the front pipe, so being the original front pipe is 2.5"x2 into 3", yep you guessed it, i have a 2.5" gasket fitted on the 3" outlet.>_<

So my poor bus was attempting to shove all its air through just over 2.5" diameter..

This could explain its flat line and not wanting to produce power over 300 odd RWKW

    • Ok glad you clarified on the frenchy’s options , I was worried about if my oem hoses would fit the new compressor or not if I just bought the bracket/compressor kit ,  didn’t realize they also sold a larger full conversion kit. Hmm may just go oem in that case then to make it easy only because I plan to sell this car to upgrade to a 32 GTR or 34 GTT.
    • Right, here's a video of the basic operation at least.  This is what you can expect day to day when you turn the car on and it boots from standby.  The only thing from a media point of view I haven't gotten working is for it to autoplay plexamp when it turns on from standby (it works from cold boot) but that's more of a plexamp problem as it will autoplay other music players.  Also attached is my one stray cable.  It's part of the screen's wiring adapters but there's just nowhere for it to go in my car.  I've just now done a bit of research and found a matching port on a 2010-2014 head unit with BOSE.  Mine has no BOSE so that's that case pretty much closed I think.  Plugging in the Infiniti AC panel basically did nothing for me, so that's a dead end as well.  Next port of call is to mess with this CANBUS module and see what I can find from it.  I found this resource containing the DBC files for a 2010+ G37 : https://github.com/icecube45/Dash_InfinitiG37/blob/master/InfinitiG37.dbc I'll now have something to go from when I try to extract my CANBUS data so I can see if the HVAC Mode, Fan Speed, Temperature, etc. match and also the gear shifter position.  It's a pretty big assumption that it's just mismatched CAN signals but considering all the devices in the CAN network are talking to each other (AC can be fully adjusted just with no info on screen) it might be a safe one.  I will report back WhatsApp Video 2025-02-26 at 12.49.10.mp4
    • Thanks for that Paul.  Do you think if I posted a picture you'd be able to remember where it went?
    • Sorry Duncan, I didn't get a notification for the replies.  Thanks for responding!  It's a full Android device, but does allow you to use CarPlay/AA as well.  This is the one I bought from NaviRS on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006368602668.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.111.59aa1802JDzQ0E - the 2K 8G-256G CAM variant but it seems to have gone up by £170 since I bought it!  My purchase was £307.14.   It's not the fastest thing in the world but performs perfectly adequately.  It stays on standby unless I disconnect the battery and let it power down, then it's just a fairly standard Android bootup time from cold.  The DSP Equaliser is very nice and made the standard stereo system sound pretty decent compared to the stock screen.  Perhaps I can take a video of it when I get a sec. It *allegedly* supports the reverse camera, but I'm yet to get that working.  It has options for reverse cam (a camera unit can be bought separately) or 360 cameras (also bought separately).  To be fair it doesn't seem to detect that the shifter was put into reverse but I'm working on a theory about this as well.  At the moment I'm going without which is a bit annoying considering the car is an absolute canal barge but so far I haven't caused any damage I'll grab a picture of the wire I'm missing later today when I can get outside.  My theory, by the by, is that not only is the head unit different, but the CANBUS network has different signals for the different years.  I think this because I have a spare AC panel from a newer Infiniti G37 (as opposed to my Nissan panel) which wouldn't control anything except the volume when I had it wired up with the stock system.  I'm going to throw it back in and see if the screen will respond to it.  I've just ordered an arduino CANBUS module so I can have a look at the signals going around the car and see if I can spot anything.  I'm thinking if I can work out what it's expecting vs what it's getting I might be able to translate and relay the signal back but so far just a theory anyway. I also found this on my travels, so far the only one that specifically matches my car: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002822934280.html?spm=a2g0s.imconversation.0.0.33433e5fgttovi If you look at the picture of the before, it has the card reader slot, and the picture of the head unit is exactly the same as the one pictured in my original post.  I asked if they sell the cables separately but sadly they won't.  I didn't want to just buy this one because it's a super old Android version and only dual core - likely slow as hell.
    • As above, you did refill the coolant and burp the system before running it again didn't you?
