this. nissan made a car that any useless hack can go fast in, regardless of their skill level.

Yawn, so bored of hearing this. Quoted above because it's the closest rant but the same boring sods keep saying the same boring things about this (un)boring car.

You do realise exactly the same thing has been said about just about every gtr.

And then people that actually drive the cars (and have skill) are often repeatedly quoted as saying how it's easy to go fast in it, but just as hard to get that extra speed that makes you 'good' as any other car. While it isn't the same experience as every other car, that doesn't actually take away from the car. Sure it's different to your ideological car, just like a Ferrari or Lambo is, but i'm pretty sure that until you have some skill and have driven all the cars your opinion is fairly irrelevant.

Not to mention, looks are in the eye of the beholder. The Lambo is just a rehash of a rehash of a rehash, the GTR is actually something new and different, I apologise for Nissan if that upsets you. Get over it :P.

As a famous driver once commented after getting sick and tired of the same bunch of aussies sook and cry because something new, different, and better had come along:

"I'm just really stunned for words, I can't believe the reception. I thought Australian race fans had a lot more to go than this, this is bloody disgraceful. I'll keep racing but I tell you what this is going to remain with me for a long time. You're a pack of arseholes."

Anyway, I'd much rather the GTR than the Lambo if it were my coin.

They sooked and cried...because the Sierra was still driving and the GTR had crashed into the wall twice before the red flag came out...It was because they discounted that lap the GTR won...anyway....

The reason us "same people" keep saying we don't like the GTR is because the same people cant handle the GTR being criticized.

I completely agree that its horses for course's and if you love the GTR than good on you, but there are alternatives.

E.g If I had say 200k to spend on a car it would be a new M3...or a Mint F355 + mods.

I love speed don't get me wrong but the R35 just seems too clinical, Look at the AMS drag resuts, 8 sec cars should be cranky as f**k and not idle and be a bastard to drive around...thats 70% of the appeal of fast cars to me, hell if I wanted a 0-100 weapon id buy a Tesla and do 0-100 in 1.9 secs or what ever they do lol

I would say most people would like a very fast car that can be driven as a daily.

Should go onto the M3 forums, most of them are selling up and buying the R35. There must be a good reason for this (ie the R35 is a better car).

If I wasn't building a house I would have bought one. Probably will wait for the R36 release.

I you actually had the money totally spare how could you not buy a Lamborghini or Ferrari over an R35,

Tbh if someone said you can have either an r34 or an r35 I'd take the r34 any day,

Proper manual and looks awesome

For a performance car (unless I had unlimited budget to then further modify one and for maintenance) I wouldnt pick anything Italian. To make gold digging whores throw off their gbangers I'd get an italian sports car.

Ive personally spoken to a fair few blokes who have to work on these things and, well... they are extremely over priced for what they are.

That and google Italian sports car fire.

Lol I ran that google search, don't buy a 458 italia as it might burn your ass!

They call italian bikes 'cafe cruisers', why, jap bikes out perform them in every way (although the s1000rr is a beast)

How many superbike championships did Ducati win again? lol

Either way Id rather jump on a a Benelli or an MV or a Duke, Guzzi etc over any jap bike.

Only current jap bike that appeals to me is the New CB1100

Am I talking about oem bikes that battle out every major road and track test, i.e. world masters, isle of mann, motogp, formula xtreme!

I used to race production yyself so I potentially know I little more than you about 2 wheels

Ye I know they are quicker out of the box...but jap bikes lack soul...if that makes sense??

But my 2 wheeled love goes to old british bikes.

On my bucket list is to own a Rocket Goldstar and a Brough SS80

What did you ride in Prod?

Well I could say "why does it matter what I rode" but I won't :) (just jokes)

U ready for it...it was an aprilia rs250 (yep, italian)

My passion like many is the 1000cc and u can't beat a jap bike + they are cheap as the euro bikes are waaaaay overpriced (200%+) and when a jap bike overtakes u on power which is inevitable, it hurts the cafe cruiser hehe

I love RS250s

Modern Day Suzuki RGV250...with Italian handling = embarrassing 600 riders

Interesting that Aprillia's 250gp bike was a slightly modified RS250...and it dominated for a long time

You are right about costs though...$15-16k for a jap litre bike or $40k for a duke 1198.

Much like the GTR vs Lambo though...given the budget I'd take the Duke ( see I can stay ot lol)

Its funny though, track test a jap bike which doesn't have ohlins suspension and brembo gear and it is still quicker than the italian bike...now imagine if the jap bike was running that gear, how much quicker would it be?

Yeah the rs250 was a good bike, I had 2 rgvs and they were no where near the aprilia

this. had the red flag been waved a minute or 2 later then Dick Johnson would've won that year and Jim Richards and Mark Skaife would've had DNF next to their name.

as for if i had 200k to spend on a car, as i said, it wouldn't be a GTR. i don't care that people like the GTR. everyone has different tastes. i just hate that GTR fanbois think that there is no other car worth even looking at. they are no different to commodore fanbois.

This,

You'd have to huffing paint thinner to say you wouldn't take a gallardo over an r35

There will always be fanboys for every brand/type of car, regardless of its actual abilities or lack thereof.

Unfortunately I happen to run into these types quiet regularly ie, the veyron cannot be beaten around any racetrack in the world... etc etc.

I know for a fact, unless I buy a mine then sell it to some international bussiness monstrosity for milllions that I will never be able to own/modify/maintain a Italian sports car.

But personally I prefer Porsches out of the euros and thats probably why I like GTR's so much.

time to put this thread to rest HAHAHAHAHAAAA!

check this out!

gallardo is not in this race, however, the gallardo runs a 12.4 1/4mile where as the GTR will runs a flat 11 (both in factory form)

none of this converting to twin turbo stuff which would cost an absolute bomb on that car - long live the GT-ARRRRRRRRRR

Who cares about stock cars?

It's about two modded russian ones! Whilst this is a GT-R dominated site, gotta give respect where it's due and that Lambo is simply amazing in every which way you look at it.

Spend $150K on the GTR engine as the Lambo guy has done and see which one will be quicker 0 - anything. There you are comparing apples with oranges, 1100hp with 800hp

All M3 drivers off to BMW forum. You know what they call M3 drivers..

:whistling:

david - how is your drag r32 coming along?

u can only imagine how much the guy pumped into the lambo to convert to twin turbo + other engines mods etc...i bet he has spent more on his engine than the purchase of a gtr

heck - lets race a mild worked gtr with an 'off its guts' porsche, that would be another fair race too!

besides that, the r35 smashes the lambo up to 230kmh?

quick story:

the guy that i bought my adm gtr from is a very good driver, he used to pull 1:07 around wakefield in my adm gtr on slicks, factory power (so now we all know he is more than capable). he recently bought the BSM gtr to add to his awesome collection of cars. he flew to philip island to track test the r35 & his words "i simply couldnt come to terms with the sheer acceleration, braking & cornering ability of the r35". i think i could giveway the gear shifter & clutch for a much better car.

r13nismoid - comparing factory cars is a great test, they were engineered to run this level of power & not everyone modifies their vehicles (other than us donkeys on sau haha)

What happened once they had to run the same capacity as the rest, even when the rest had inlet restrictors? They got hammered, that's what. So they went to Flammini threatening to leave if they didn't get their CC advantage back.

They got it so all the other manufacturers decided to leave. Now it's a factory Ducati team with a 1200cc motor vs a bunch of privateers with off the shelf parts and 1000ccs and a weight penalty. Wow, that's some achievement. Look at Ducati's MotoGP effort. Too pig headed to admit that pointing a cylinder at the front wheel is a fundamental flaw. So they'll keep rearranging the deck chairs while their race team sink.

You'd have a Benelli? Case closed.

You know what ALFA stands for? Another Laughable Foray into Automobiles.

FIAT?

Fix It Again, Tony!

Anywho, a GTR is what it is. A Supercar at half the price of the Italian and Euro equivalents. Looks are subjective (and the fact you'd have a Benelli or Guzzi says loads about your subjectivity). To argue so fundamentally against the GTR on a Skyline forum is simply attention seeking.

If I had half a mil to blow on a car, it'd probably be a Lambo (you can keep your Ferraris). However a GTR would be a heck of a substitute for less than half the cost. There's a big diff between $180k and $450k.

If I win Tatts tonight, I'll have one of each.

Its not attention seeking, its simply putting fan boys in their place.

As for the superbikes.....how is it fair to have a 1000cc twin up against 1000cc 4's?...simple common sense tells you a 4 potter is going to make more power than a twin, so bloody oath the twins should have a capacity advantage.

Same reason turbo cars have capacity multipliers
