I am going to do this soon myself but was going to use Gloss Red Caliper Paint. hmmmmm...options...

I even bought a spare cover incase I'm not happy with the end result. See how it goes.

I did get around to doing this, used plastic primer and caliper paint. Gently peeled off the badge and reattached with fresh double sided tape.

I only just put it on so I guess time will tell how it holds up.

you can use normal automotive basecoat and clear, the heat will not affect it.

think about how hot a panel gets in the middle of summer out in the sun? the paint doesnt peel off then, so it wont on the bay either.

rub the cover with 800 wet paper.

wash it with soapy water to remove all rubbing residue and sludge.

clean with prepsol/wax and grease remover.

apply plastic primer, but apply fine coats, not heavy coats, as this can cause imperfections in the paint.

apply paint within 15 minutes of applying plastic primer.

good luck!
