I am looking to fit out my r32 with some gear, keen to get top and lower front control arms, and rear control arms.

my question is, what fits R32 and what not?

I have a GTR rear end in mine, but i am using the GTS lower control arms on the rear.

Some sites say the R32 and S13 are the same on rear, some don't.

Some say the fronts are same also.

confused as hell, driftworks mensions 240sx etc etc

someone help me out here, can i just put the S13 lower front control arms on and z32 / r32 upper ones, then the S13 rear lower and uppers as well as traction rods??

and what about the tie rod ends? which ones can i use?

any info would be good.

cheers

I have a GTR rear end in the back of my 2WD gtst, I bent a lower control arm from the GTR rear end and replaced it with one from the gtst, they looked identical to me, I did not have any issue with tracking or wheel alignment out of the box. All the other pressed sheet metal parts look identical too & interchangable. My understanding that the only thing that is different other than 2 bolt subframe for the diff instead of gtst 4 bolt, drive shafts, and the important one is the GTR hubs are alloy instead of steel. This means that the have a different shock absorber design, GTR has a 'yoke?' on the end that bolts to the hub, where the gtst just has a hole for the bolt at the end of the shock absorber. Sorry for not being more technical with my description. But I think you will be fine swapping the parts you need.

All the s13 arms fit the rear in the r32 except toe arms. With the Rear LCA (if you are going to swap it) check the width of the bush first as there are a few r32's out there running different sized bushes, mine was one of them...The taper on the ball joint is the same s13/r32.

On the front, s13, 14, 15, r33, r34gtst LCA's all fit, the later ones are a bit longer so you gain some camber. But you need to swap in your ball joint as the tapers are different in the later models, s13 taper is the same, but s13 arm is the same length as r32 so no gain. You need the r32 adjustable upper arm, but again be careful during install as i found that my 32gtst used a smaller diameter bolt at the outer end compared to the inner where as the arm i bought was set up for the larger bolt at both ends meaning i had the enlarge the hole in the upright and get 2 new bolts.

leave the factory tie rods and tie rod ends alone, no need to change them.

If i get stock S14 lower control arms for the front will it gain camber automatically because they are longer i have issues with the wheels fitting in gaurds i need to move them out a little bit?

If i buy the adjustable control arms from say driftworks or megan racing, should i get the S14 ones? or get the S13 ones? because they are both adjustable anyway??

You did not mention R32 here, I have a R32 !! i want to put the adjustable lower arms on the R32 skyline but I only have options to buy for S13 and S14 from our supplier.

will the S13 and S14 FRONT LCA's fit on my R32 ?? and which one is the best to buy?

If you are buying after market arms then in order of preference get r32gtst (if they are available) followed by S13 due to the taper on the ball joint being the same.

All of those front LCA's i listed fit r32's, hence why i said they all fit. I personally had stock s14 LCA's in mine but ran an r32 ball joint in them.

No offence Zeb, but i don't see anything particularly difficult about fitting up the arms in the thread you linked. Plus the megan racing arms remove the caster rod bolt issue. the sway bar should be sitting above the LCA anyway if the spacers on the outer end are fitted so no need to cut tabs off.

i ordered the Driftworks ones, and i asked them to supply them for the R32 GTST.

so lets see how it goes when i call them in the morning.

Parts on order are

Cusco rear upper control arms

diftworks rear lower

driftworks front upper

driftworks front lower

other stuff for car ordered or already here

carbon fibre bonnet

valve springs

drift hydo hand brake and master cyl

steering spacers

(looking for a set of coil overs)

and the reason why i want them is because i want to setup some sexy camber on the car, make it look like the goods when sliding at the F1 race track here in Abu Dhabi :)

thanks for your help guys. hope it works out

So next question is... what about the setup... for drifting.. how is the best setup going to be for traction in front and and rear (or lack of??)... im a NOOB drifter but would like that to change hence the work done on this car so far...

Everyone is different and i know you have to try different setups... but anything you guys have for me to read or from personal experiences id be happy to see!

a stock standard drift setup would be

Front:

Camber - 3 deg

Castor 7 deg

Toe out 1 -2 each side

Rear

Camber -0.5

Toe - 0

I run -0.5 total camber and toe in = 2 each side for max grip with 400hp and a long fast track

Front should stay relatively the same imo change your rear to adjust your grip levels

Also look at sway bars, some people run massive ones like me and some run none.. but mostly soft on front and stiff on rear
