well car went off to panel beaters last monday, got it back today... but wait something looks differant... my rim looks a little dull..

they had sent it away for 'refinishing' becouse it had some rash on it and some scuffing from being hit by another car. but wasnt anodized or just touched up. was painted.

so now i got 3 anodized CE28's and one painted... anyway of getting the original colour back?

as a bonus thoe they painted the whole front of the car, including the front bar which was wrong colour thanks to japan... also polished front lights and fog lights so they look new :D

odds of finding a single bronze 18" ce28n for sale?

This is insurance work right?

It should be up to them to ensure the repair matches the original, if it doesn't they need to correct it.

If they can't match the wheel finish, doesn't mean they can give you a "near enough" job; they might as well give you a 14" Hotwire rim, or just throw on the space saver if that's the case.

Politely make your opinion known, even get the assesor involved, you don't have to accept poor quality work; even if it's only one part of the job.

+1 this . In end it has to match, near enough is not good enough. Most important thing to remember is keep it polite, you get a lot further by polite but firm. I think at times they rely on people not noticing or caring ( the I CBF dealing with it attitude ) . My car had to go back twice to get the finish right. It's still not factory correct but I was happy with the end result.

If on the other hand the where doing the wheel as a favour and it's not really under the insurance (and they don't want to help), then you should be able to get a single wheel of Yahoo Japan via Import Monster.

nice wheels btw. hmmmm I wonder how they would look in black on C34 S2 Dayz ... whistling.gif

+2

they are required to restore it to orginal condition. they cant just paint a wheel. it must be re-anodized or replaced with a new one. you dont have to settle for a sub standard job. if they are unwilling to correct the fault, get ur insurer involved.

    • This could be sold and shipped to the US for many gold pieces. RMS has no say in that. Ask various Western Sydney inhabitants how it works.
    • Ha ha ha, mine loves to spend, all on the dogs (they're our kids, and her spending would likely rival that of some people raising children!) the only benefit is, her spending is tax deductible as she runs a business in the dog industry 😛 The above all means she can spend race car budget quicker than I can. 😛 That and a lot of the things I want are very expensive, and I can be a bit "you want how much for that?!" And at other times overly impulsive. Or I start the w days of research, get to day 1.5 and get really annoyed that no one will advertise actual specifics and it's just marketting BS and I go "well, now I don't want anything to do with that now!" Also I hate paying lots of money for something I can make from $50 in materials. Then I get the shits halfway through making things and wonder why others who just buy parts have more fun... 😛
    • Their 240Z with the RB26 would be a real nice thing to have in a garage to come out for an occasional weekend cruise It's such a cool thing in so many ways Sadly, we have a blue 240Z shell that I walk past every day, just sitting outside a shed at work, it has been slowly disintegrating and falling apart into the ground for the last few years, the owner cannot be found, and I am unable to "claim it" I've been told by work and the RMS, the rust in the body is excessive though, and it has had most of the salvageable stuff, like panels, trim and switch gear stripped off it over the last year or two, work keeps threatening to put it in one of our metal scrap bins, I wish they did though, as it makes Mark sad walking past it
    • Good tips, I like it! 😂😂 My wife is a LOT more frugal than me so it's only me we need to worry about! A splurge to her is buying 2 pairs of socks in one visit at Kmart!
    • Haha, the appropriate response to the question "Is this new?" is "I've had this for a while.". With the unspoken small print that a while may be the time since this morning or five years ago   And to be fair I learned that from the best, i.e. my wife. Because it goes both ways.
