If he is running lines straight to the wastegate, then no amount of restrictors can lower the boost, no matter what you do.

Restricting air/pressure to the wastegate will only INCREASE the boost not lower it.

Ruxis, I can come have a quick look over the car soon for you and make sure it's all hooked up properly (Didn't watch the vid) and check that nothing should detonate.

Also, if you paint the FMIC black then it's not likely to be spotted by the police to begin with, so no issue there.

in the vid there is a feed to the wastegate

but there is another vac line t'd into it which runs to the stock vac point for the stock boost solenoid (pre turbo in the metal bends that come from the rocker covers)

Nope, your car already has an intercooler, it is just a bigger one, why would it be illegal?

i heard its illegal cause if you hit someone itll kill them.

sounds stupid but i guess so is alot of laws

fmic are illegal if there aren't any facory mounting points but get an engineer to inspect the brackets made up to fit and quality of welds and your all good that's why GTR's are legal with fmic- stock mounting points- well thats how it is in SA

Next time look up the relevant ADRs or call up whoever in your state does your defect inspections and ask them. They aren't illegal.

The only way it would be illegal is it if you modified structural components of the car or mounted it on the front of your bumper so it could cause injury.

    • Realised I never posted this , also I never got a price
    • I'm glad to hear you've joined the SKI club. Spend the Kids Inheritance.
    • I have a VALCON if anyone wants it, I have no idea why you'd want to have VVT specifically broken out of the ECU as opposed to running it off the FCON/whatever standalone you have.
    • Hi Yes we're a bit optimistic we might get something out of sealing up the two pipes of the external wastegate and reactivating the stock one. I believe the orginal stock wastegate was tack welded shut. It doesn't budge and visually looks closed and sealed. The car has noticeably more lag so it could be at least part of the problem, maybe all. It's definately one of the key changes made since last tune. And it's one that's more difficult to fully understand and measure, not like for instance timing or cylinder compression.  Thanks for that feedback, we'll let you know how this progresses. Fingers crossed.   Regards Rob
