HI there,

Up for grabs cheap learner's (LAMS) bike, it's actually my mates but it's pretty much mine to ride and sell as it is now in my possession as he cannot be bothered riding. He's got a new toy, my old RB 180SX which is more fun than riding a 250cc LAMS bike w00t2.gif

Make: Yamaha

Model: FZR250

Built: 1991, Japan

Import: Yes

KMs: 38xxx

LAMS: Yes

Comments:

Bike isn't perfect, but it's a really good sports bike to start off learning on. Previous owner replaced the fairings with copied ones which looks ok for what they are. Bike has alarm and LED blinkers. Probably needs a good carb sync as it "sounds" like it needs one. Front brake pads also need replacing, they're nearly out. Also there is some blow by especially when you redline it, some oil comes out of the case crank tubes which I think could be from over filling the oil. If the rings were worn, it would be pumping out white smoke which it isn't. Great project bike if you're keen to work on it, sounds fantastic, especially with the EXUP exhaust valve. I can tell you no CBR250RR sounds as sexy shades.gif

Price: $2000 includes Rego till March 2012

Location: Canley Vale, NSW

Contact: PM only

Kinda of negotiable, will trade for parts & cash adjustments such as a RB2XDET oil cooler kit, branded bucket seat with rails for S13/14/15

    • Yeah this used to happen to me every year and a quick call would at least raise the agreed value back up / reduce the premium, but usually both.    That said for the first time on the renewal this year our agreed values went up or stayed the same over the fleet and the premium came down so that was a nice surprise.
    • I don't even go that hard core. I just say "how do you expect me to stay, when you increase my premium, and reduce the value of the car?"   Then play a game of shut the f**k up. Most of the time it's a computer that did the adjustment, and the people will happily change it around for you.
    • You just say that the premium increase seems particularly excessive (no pun intended) and that the value decrease seems unwarranted. You say that it's not 2005 any more, and that these days Skylines are generally owned and insured only by those that have demonstrated an ability to keep them in one piece across decades, and are therefore not the horrible risk that used to be assumed. etc.
    • Have a look at JS Performance Garage, just did a bit of work on a 32 GTR.
    • What to even say/ask? Should I mention to Shannons I'm shopping around or is that cliche.
