Hey guys,

Putting aside around $1000 - $1500 for some extra power.

Currently got

-FMIC

-Splitfire coils

-Triple plate ceramic cluth

-Manual Boost controller

-New shocks/springs

Its running on around 10-11psi

Car still seems pretty powerless with the factory turbo and im worried about bumping the boost up any higher.

What kind of things can I look at and around what power could I make with them.

Try not to just say "get a turbo" because I know you cant just bolt a turbo on and be done with it.

Cheers for the input biggrin.gif

Assume you have a

1. 3" or 3.5" exhaust and a free flowing filter (Pod or K&N panel) - $1000

2. Aftermarket ECU or piggy back - $2000

3. Injectors - $600+

4. Fuel pump - $350

5. Drop in cams and cam gears - $1500

and when was it last tuned? $700

and then maybe look at Turbs - $2500+

ps. second hand parts will be cheaper and riskier

Shit sorry guys!

Left out its already got a 3"

So ECU and a tune for $1500?

Also if im going injectors should I go 750cc? so I know it will cover after the later mods

dont need injectors for the stock turbo, stock injectors are good for 230ish kw

Definately the ECU is next then mate and you can expect to see around the 200rwkw zone and eliminate that massive flat spot your car will have  dont worry bout injectors until you are ready for a turbo upgrade in my opinion

The Nistune can be bit of a pain mate cos the RB25 computer isnt Nistune compatible and you will need to get an RB20 or 300ZX ECU to get Nistuned just somethin to think about :whistling:

Okay sweet im going to send out some emails now to get some quotes.

If I can get a pretty good quote then ill go for a NIStune and some injectors.

Thanks guys :)

New plugs, Gap about 0.9

New oil filter and engine oil

New gearbox oil

New diff oil

New air filter

New Bosch 040 intank fuel pump (mines running 355atw with one)

New fuel filter

Remove I/C and clean the insides (it gets coated with oil)

Flush and clean radiator

Clean/Flush/bleed brake fluid

Machine/replace discs and fit new pads

Clean /flush power steering fluid

All this is what I would do first to ensure engine life and peice of mind.

THEN... take it to a tuner and get him to run it up, he will/should tell you what is wrong if anything and whats needed to achieve the power and/or responce your after, talk to him about your budget, if he wont listen he is rubbish and justs wants your money, find a better tuner.

All this should cost around $1000, your car will go better, it will be safer, and it will be a clean platform to start from, it all depends on how far/stupid you want to go, this way you will not spend money on parts now that need to be upgraded later, things like injectors, exhausts and ECUs.

Work out how much power you want and only buy parts to get that end result, there are lots of shiny things that will just waste your money and not give you any gain.

Shop smart, Shop S-Mart

On a side note my old stock Turbs ran at 14lb for about 12mths, it was still fine when it was removed to be replaced with a biger one, was I just lucky, was it good servicing, was it the stars ?, just saying.

Hi Daniel,

Mark is right on the Full Service but normally I expect that is done straight after you buy a car, if its not been done very recently, as it gives you the clean base to work from.

I'm no expert so your questions might be better in the forced induction thread on the main forum.

IMHO - as for ECU's it;s what your tuner reccomends, as they are comfortable with what they know, that will get you the best results.

I run a Haltech, others Autronic, alot of Power FC's and some Microtechs.

Which shop to go to maybe you next question and I can't answer that one either as I dont use locals.

Check out the thread at the top of the ACT main page. See everyones thoughts pinch.gif and then make your own mind up.

Personaly I use Croydons in Sydney because they built my engine and installed my Haltech.

Cheers

S!N

If your budget doesnt alow then look at the advice above "you will need to get an RB20 or 300ZX ECU to get Nistuned". Most cost effective for a 33.

Yo

So I can always get my budget stretched further.

What is the point in working and earning money if your not spending it on something you enjoy is my thoughts.

Full service was done just before I purchased the car but I don't think it when in to as much detail as the one stated above.

Currently my person im using is Premier Automotive as my mechanic but I don't think they do much tuning.

To be honest I been emailing Croydon already so I will probably go with them once I get the ECU.

Going to have to make a wish list and cross each one off.

-Massive Service.

-ECU (going to look at costs and brands)

-Front facing plenum

-Tune

Everyone is so bloody helpful its awesome.

Ps. Going to try head out to the Friday meet this week (hope my new dash shows up before so you all don't laugh at my fluffy one hahaha)

For a mint tune, I and just about 99% of the NSW guys recommend UNIgroup Engineering for tunes.

+ they look after NSW Club members (hint: join the club lol)

http://www.unigroup.com.au/Home.html

My advise, is dont change to the FF Plenum...there is no point unless you are after 500+hp and even then the standard one will do it.

So save the coin on that and get your turbo highflowed + tune (see the Hypergear thread in the FI section)

As said before standard injectors and AFM are good for 230rwks, which makes for a very quick and responsive street car

Thanks guys!

Looks like I sold my 323 so that gives me $700 to spend on the highflow.

Got a quote and they said around $900 but im sure I could get it down more.

With the tune im going to go for NIStune but have to buy the ecu first.

If I start going for the aftermarket ECU and tune + high flow.

My budget is starting to get blown out by around $800-$1000

Are these the correct prices I should be expecting.

-Highflow $700-$900

-Tune (wouldnt have a clue)

-ECU $150-$250 (RB20 or 300ZX)

-Service $500

    • To clarify what I posted above, I though you both had a situation where it cancelled sooner one way than the other.....if it is reasonably even where it cancels in either direction that is probably normal (consider gentle movements like lane changes, you don't want it to need half a turn of lock to turn the indicators off)
    • Son, in this country, that is a piece of Gyprock. f**king drywall. FFS! I also like the autocorrect of trailer to tablet. I was reading it and thing, "what the hell drugs is he on?" Then the photo made it clear enough.
    • SO whats the deal with this issue? I've read a heap of posts from the infinity owners in the US having full engine swaps done under warranty. Most claims are done on earlier cars than 2019 but I'm sure I've come across claims of 2020 models also having this issue. I like the 400r and Q50Red/S but can't fathom dumping close to 50k on a car with terminal issues!!!
    • The above video is working normally. That is, that's how the right hand indicator should cancel when rotating the wheel left.
    • I noticed that I could see creatures on the moon when I turned my new headlights on. I thought I should check the alignment. It's pretty rudimentary but I just grabbed some dry wall and put it against my tablet and made sure the beam was below the height on the headlights. Ie the beam is at 600mm on my car, I just made it lower than that 7.5m away.  Not the best but it'll do until I can do it properly at the local shops.
