I need to get my ass into gear and get over to japan. I know a few girls there that can show me around and I know a little japanese.... I had planned a trip ealier this year then the tsunami arrived.

Whats the deal with the food an water? (radiation)

Might be over kill but I try to drink bottled water only and when I'm at my house I drink from the tap as water as it comes direct from underground volcanic spring and is as fresh clean water as you can get.

Have had it tested and I could bottle it and sell the stuff. There hasn't been any bad levels of radiation where my house is (nearly 800plus k's from the power plant) but still very carefull what goes in my body.

Problem is the food !!

Every week they find hot spots and contaminated food plus theres farmers taking food from dodgy areas and selling in different parts of Japan and saying its grown there.

I dont touch anything from Honshu only food from Hokkaido and try to eat as much import food from other countries eg. Aussie Beef.

Theres some pretty major smoke screen bullshit going on from the Japanes government and Tepco and I wouldnt trust a word they say.

Also theres a few websites going round which show real time radiation levels which is all being monitored by non government organizations but they are all in Japanese only.

Japanese government has only now started random food testing in supermarkets across Japan. I think you will find in the future that a lot of people will have been seriously affected by radiation.

As for fish from sea... I would not go near it as they have found high traces of radiation 100's of km's up and down the coast from f*kushima.

Got a mate who is a fisherman off Chiba and they test the fish they catch and a hell of a lot comes up positive but just under the so called safe limits.

Independent testing has found very high levels in the Pacific Ocean over 300km's north and south of the plant.

Experts reckon the radiation will take up to 30 years to clean up and break down.

well, me and my brother went out last night and got another goodun, but didnt have a brag mat lol. Some guys young son wanted to hold a baby we caught as they werent having any luck(we were 15 feet away and smashing them, poor guy, maybe lure selection was wrong?) so we snapped him with my brother as well.

Cheers, Allan

Headed over to the spit on Friday night with a few mates if anyone is keen!

Not much around there at the moment (Just the usual), but a good night out in the sea breeze is nothing to ever complain about :)

Out near pinkenba (airport) theres some good spots to catch flat head, although I wouldnt eat them.

Snip

Yeah my friend told me only to drink bottled water, its a shame about the seafood.

i like fishing, just don't get to do it often enough. got a 3.6m tinny that i haven't used in over a year (thinking of selling if anyone is interested). living 45 mins from the water doesn't help (even though i work 5 mins from the water). generally only go after small stuff, like whiting, flathead and bream. i either go to maroochy river (went with kenny/RBNT a few times) or tin can bay, with the occasional trip to burrum heads.

only fresh water fishing i've done was in the mary river in gympie (where i live) and that was just for bait to use in crab pots. got a few eels. the missus caught a few decent catfish though.

More fun from the last few nights fishing. Got probably 30 more pics of Rat Barra and small Jacks. Had a ball, no moon out so it was tough to get them to get going, but once we got them enticed it was insane fishing. Getting bashed up on 40lb braid every 3rd bait, nearly got spooled by something, pulled the split rings off my bomber trying to stop it lol

Hi al, i was hitting lake monduran pretty hard over the last few weeks and the only advice i can give you is to not go. It is very poor fishing there at the moment do to the massive increase in water volume and the amount of fish lost over the dam wall. Id save your pennies and go looking for a charter this time of year to get you out onto the reef as its superb fishing at the moment

Cheers, Allan

Should be a heap of salmon in there at the moment too. I just got back from hervey bay and man, did i get a flogging! By both the weather and the fish! MadKeen so we went out in 25-30's in a 4.5 tinnie and 2m swells but we were rewarded with a few really quality fish. Got a PB fingermark at 6.5kg and a nice jack that went 755 long and 6kg! Got a few nice bluebone and a couple of nice pencils for a feed too :) cant wait for good weather down there as im going back with a 2nd boat this time and we should get some mean shots if the weather is good
