anyone done and surf/beach fishing on the sunny coast area (mainly northern coast around peregian beach up to noosa)? keen to give it a try but have no experience with surf fishing so would like some tips (spots, baits, rigs, technique, etc). planning on buying a cheap surf rod (given that it won't get used too much until i move closer to the water) to start with

Last week I was fishing just off the coast of Fraser Island and caught this beauty.

Length 2.45m

Weight 27kg

Caught using a Shimano baitrunner 6500B with 50lb braid, and some mac tuna as bait.

It took about 20mins to bring it in.

Sat night when i was in noosa i caught a 3.7kg diamond trevally.

On the south coast we catch a poor version of them,

taste yucky real stinky fish,also has nick name blurters.

but yeah thats the main river in mackay. lots of croc's in the creeks around here

LOTS of sharks in the river. dream boats try have a go at ya fish if ur not quick enuff
