hey guys and girls.

i am looking into putting a RB25DET into my mr30 hatch. first i was wondering has anyone else done this modification and if so were there any troubles you encounted along the way and secondly did you have any trouble registering the car? was an engineers certificate required or did it go straight through. i am from victoria also.

thansk

Easy conversion do it it'd rip when I did mine it was already regod so didn't worry. But I have since had it blue slipd and numbers correctd. Majority of cops got no idea wat they looking at unless u go high mount etc u should b fine if done well

this one is unregistered as it hasnt been going for some time now and will have to be check over by vic roads. but my thoughts too is to hope i get someone that has no idea what they are looking at.

did you have to change engine mounts. how about the gearbox?

Get it engineered. Do it right or don't bother.

there's enough dodgy kunce out there already. Don't be another one of them.

pft..

i used rb20 mounts/brakets, motor bolts straight up to original r30 x member.. (does sit a bit to far 4ward) if ur car was allready manual , not hard to mod the gearbox xmember + also depends wat box u run, shortn tail shaft to suit.

i do have my old t shalf somewhere that i got shortened, it will work if u using a rb20 box.

I think a CA20e powered Bluebird tailshaft 'may' be a direct fit too, depending on what engine mounts you use. (or the L20b variant, cant remember)

(from memory RB30e engine mounts from a VL or R31 can be used, slot the holes and youre done)

Getting a modified tailshaft is pretty much the main hassle in the conversion. having it balanced right without vibrating or harmonics problems etc can be tricky!

Not suggesting it's a difficult conversion. That has absolutely nothing to do with engineering it. If it's easy, then more power to you. It still needs to be engineered. Can't hide from that.

I suppose the 30 year old stock brakes and suspension didn't need any work either, cause they work properly, eh?

I wasn't having a dig I'm with ya 100% ud be stupid not to upgrade brakes susp etc just few mates have gone throu all the bs to engineer and still been defected and given grief I just don't c the point. End of the day if its that modified it shouldn't b on the road
