M® DATO
How you going? I was wondering if you guys can help me. I have a R200 diff that needs tightening. Ive read the post on Datnet (datsun website) on how to tighten it but when i pulled my diff apart the inside of my viscous diff was totally different to the viscous diff described. The diff described had a shim inside where as mine has a series of metal plates stacked ontop of each other on the inside. The shim which i bought for my diff is smaller in diameter from the inside where my diff requires one larger in diameter. Is it possible to get a shim that is wider in diameter? If you can help me it would great. If you need further information let me know. GTSBoy
You don't want to shim a VLSD. It's not a proper solution to the problem. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/382447-r200-viscous-diff-tightening/#findComment-6102383 Share on other sites

Tony de Wonderful
What is a proper solution then? A proper mechanical LSD not the POS VLSD. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/382447-r200-viscous-diff-tightening/#findComment-6103086 Share on other sites
turboedsloth
You can get a thicker shim, but it is just a bandaid fix. As the others have said get a mechanical lsd of the sort Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/382447-r200-viscous-diff-tightening/#findComment-6103536 Share on other sites
