Totally agree - It's utterly ridiculous. But one must work within the confines, it's easy enough to do if you go about it smartly from the outset.

Totally agrees with this comment. As I have been attacked by the EPA 3x times. pinch.gif twice I have had to visit the 'Vicroads' centre with a stock exhaust fitted, after a noise test. Got a on the spot fine once from a 'Toggy' after he pulled up behind my car whilst I was in a shop. He took off then sent me a $600> fine in the mail. :pirate: I keep my stock gear for this very reason!

On other note. I go have a chat with the 'mechanic' about fuel pressure for 17 PSI.

Thanks mate.

oh, to beat the quick unplug afm test, possibly run half the injectors or coils looping through the afm wiring?

that would get them a little...

maybe...

Good thinking, if not just use the 'fake/un-used' wiring from the AFM's plug back to the ECU, as a loop back to the ECU loom to tap into injector pulse wire or something. Make sure you read the wiring diagram twice!

Ye Bendigo you poor blokes cop it worse than we do in Melb cause of all the young muppets out that way.

Done smartly you can have your 300rwkw, and be EPA-Spec in around 20mins by just swapping exhaust & ECU over

Sorry dude but you don't know what you are talking about with regards to what happens down here and it's not as simple as you make it out.

The EPA will unplug the AFM, it's a 30sec check to tell them if you have an aftermarket ECU or not. They are not stupid down here unfortunately.

If the AFM unplug doesn't work, then they will look closer at things like injectors (colour of tops), and even open up the ECU case. I've had them open up the case on my ECU as the consult port wasn't working, which they can also plug into.

wow wee!!!

you seriously saying they are up to that kinda shit there? its really that bad????

I would have fun with these guys... Id just chip tune the stock ecu and not even use a socket, put it directly on the board...

what a way to get pulled over... "excuse me sir, is this a 16 or 32 bit eprom?" AHA! thats a writable eprom, here is a 1000$ fine buddy.

create something that goes through the dummy AFM, so when its unplugged the engine loses ignition power.

WTF!!!

Honestly I would spend the mo st and get a haltech or vipec, something to consider with a power fc is that it costs about 900, but you want more power later on then you have to spend 600-900 getting new afm.....

For the same price straight up you can get a much better ecu that uses a decent map sensor, has 32x32 mapping, much better features and upgradable firmware

I'll be looking into these 'Haltech' ECU's seem to have a lot more functions than the 'Apexi' or 'Nistune' ECU's. Direct plug and play replacement of the OEM ECU, no re-wiring necessary.

Thanks.

Check that ebay one from the states....no shipping to aus

Also ring the dealers in your area and see what deals they can do as i have found a few in my area than do a bit of a discount...just gotta ask

Another place thats fair cheap

Powerfc or remap the std ecu, a nistune remap would probably be the best option for your budget and application $850 from most places drive in drive out.. i personally am happy to use nistunes on gtrs up to around 450-460rwkw mark.

We do plenty of big hp cars with Nistune remaps which sail through epa inspections so im sure any other shop can do the same.

    • Hey lads, reviving an old thread.  As an update, since the last time replied to this thread, ive done mostly suspension. Havent touched the motor except for maintenance. Though upon changing spark plugs, found out i had splitfires pre-installed! Updates: - Got me some stock airbox top cover and snorkel to fit onto the original intake. Should be free of defects - Bought a set of R34 GT-T brakes (not installed yet, going to rebuild + respray in champion blue + white 'Nissan' text) - Bought the last set of bilsteins from @Sydneykid and had them installed. Has been making some sounds on the rear but hopefully should be sorted out after this New Year break. - Regreased front caster rod bushings (poly bushes..) - Rear upper camber arms - Whiteline sway bars (BNF27Z 22mm + BNR11XXZ 24mm).  The rear sway bars are a bit short (ive read 50mm else where) but was still able to get them in.  Anyhows, I reckon suspension is sorted now. Maybe replace bushes (do have a set of front upper control arms from SK not installed yet) but should be okay for now. From now, I'm wanting to start working on the motor, drivetrain etc etc. Still debating on the order to go on and what to buy etc but: - ECU ( Haltech or Link ( Link states that it dont support A/T or AWD functions... Can anyone attest to this? ) - Highflow turbo ( ATR43ss2 ) - Intercooler ( Not decided yet, but cant find many good afoordable ones. Toshi says to opt for crossflow Japanese. Bit difficult this one, unless I get a returnflow Blitz from JJ? ) - Injectors ( Any recommendations ? I do have a nismo FPR ( Thanks SK ) ) - Seats - Tune by either Toshi or DVS To be fair, I did consider just keeping the stock turbo and nistuning it. Sat in a mates stock N, that had something like 200kw, and I reckon that felt more than enough. Maybe I should just go this route ahhaha. Too many choices.... Planning a trip down south, so wanting to just clean things up and make sure it gets to and from in one piece. Anything else specifically I should do before ? Cheers lads
    • Must be for the car’s lucky charm 🤷🏽‍♂️ She runs fine, but it just seems to take about 1L less. Maybe I’ll have the oil sump dropped at some point to check if there is anything
