BOV replacement?

IS the factory BOV a dog that should be replaced if upping the boost etc?

I will be fitting a FMIC soon, and I guess if so I need to look at having a BOV mount plumbed in somewhere?

I am thinking about going for the ARE kit (sounds sweet), I guess I would just get the guys to weld in a pickup for it somewhere?

Mine seems to be ok running 15psi.

Whatsisname is making close to 240rwkw and he still has the std bov.. He only has a Pod filter slapped on and it is damn loud when going off with your window down.

It did make a BIG difference to the lag on gearshifts on my WRX to put a GFB BOV on instead of the stock, I shall see what its like when my R33 arrives in OZ I guess

hrmm, That would make sense as the std bov is quite small.

Probably wouldn't move enough air at the higher boost levels.

The SBC-iD Made a noticible difference with lag between gear changes.

I had one fitted whilst the only other mods I had done were pod filter and exhaust, and had a very similar experience to yours with the WRX - reduced lag on gear changes. It was a well worthwhile addition I thought, even if some people do think they are 'rice'. Had the turbosmart type II, you can also get an adaptor kit for an extra $50, and they bolt on to the stock pipe work. The type II are also really easy to adjust, stopping most of the nasty backfiring associated with externally venting BOVs.
