The 2600k is i7 branding also not just i5.

Same price too, why not i say!

i7 branding is only good for e-penis length :P

Plus it's ~$100 more expensive, not the same price.

Exactly what i thought when i read it :whistling:

Well said! that's why I gave up! Cant believe I was dumb enough to try. So how did you overclock yours. I know enough too just leave it alone

Without looking into it i would say they would be higher binned chips potentially.

This is usually the way such things work (same as steppings) leading to better overclocks also.

Will do more reading especially with the 2700k coming out shortly and overclock results starting to crop up - but some people are getting 5.0ghz on AIR from a 2700k where most 2600k are 4.6-4.8 on air from what I've ready.

Very keen to watch how they go.

i have that exact same board. well, actually, ive had 2 of them now >.< had alot of issues with them heating up and sharting themselves. ive gone to an ASUS board now, see how it goes. On a good note, the warranty was a fast turnaround and good response time from gigaflop.

Any results for what they get on water?

Thinking back it was the gtx295 that was 30% overclocked not the CPU, only did the shaders and gpu, didn't do anything with the voltages. The CPU was just the multiplier spreadsheet said I had +4, i was trying to go from 3.02 to 4 or 4.5, which was meant to be easy on water, but once again I didn't set voltages just left them on auto. Time to find the overclockers forum I guess.

Depending on the board auto can be much much worse than setting the voltage manually.

The board is gigabyte GA-EX58 Extreme, so may be a got some bad advice then, I was told with that board it was best to just leave the voltages at auto, this probably explains all my problems
