Bsa
Hey everyone iv got a set of Phillips 10000 k hid lights in my r32 coupe gtst and they suck not bright at all can't see the road properly it's a hazard. Now does any one know how to make them brighter like using a booster of some sort? bull_11
Get a 55w globe instead of the standard 35w globe im assuming u have. I have 55w 6000k in my skyline n 55w 8000k in my ute. Massive difference in brightness Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/382688-my-hid-lights-suck/#findComment-6104361 Share on other sites
Bsa
They are 55 they are hid 10000k should be just as bright as the BMW lights but there not. Even after cleaning the headlight no good I think I might remove them. Where can you buy r32 globes as they are hc3 or something. Or do I just go h1 globes and cut to suite Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/382688-my-hid-lights-suck/#findComment-6104492 Share on other sites
bull_11
I just found out the globe type went to eBay and put in 55w 6000k h1 hid and went from there. Both are very very bright. I get flashed all the time to tell me to put my high beams off. Maybe u just got a bad set like my first pair? NYTSKY
Its the fact you have 10,000k bulbs in there. Very poor light penetration. Swap them for 5000k or 6000k max. sydking
Position of the glob and angle make a big differance ive been told. Not sure on details tho Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/382688-my-hid-lights-suck/#findComment-6105230 Share on other sites
Moodles2
The further you go away from white/yellow (around 3000-3500k), when you go whiter (above 4000k and beyond), the worse vision will get.. 10000k is asking to be pulled over and defected Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/382688-my-hid-lights-suck/#findComment-6105334 Share on other sites
Bsa
I'll have a go at 6000 k. Never had any problems with the popo before with hid they normaly go straight to the bay and say is that stock and I keep my mouth shut. I think hid lights are the least of my worries Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/382688-my-hid-lights-suck/#findComment-6105402 Share on other sites
Moodles2
I have 2 different globes, one is 4500k (white) and the other is 3000k (yellow)... as far as visibility goes, the 3000k (left headlight) has more range, about 1/4 more Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/382688-my-hid-lights-suck/#findComment-6105765 Share on other sites
pfcr33
I have 35 watt ballets and 6000k in my r33 and they are awesome, I got flashed a few times but they were pointing up to high, lowered them a bit and have not been flashed yet, anything above 6000 k is not for road use, as the are to bright for on coming traffic and they loose the focus of the beam which gives skatered light which might be your problem Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/382688-my-hid-lights-suck/#findComment-6106981 Share on other sites
Bsa
Yeah seems to be the case they don't focus properly Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/382688-my-hid-lights-suck/#findComment-6107472 Share on other sites
SargeRX8
They won't ever focus properly. The length, thickness, throw etc of the bulb is a complete mismatch to the reflector in your car. What do you suggest then I'm sick of shit lights need something good Put a good quality halogen globe back in. Phillips +30's in mine, same wattage, but good bright nearly white light. And on-coming drivers aren't ending up on someones front lawn......
