cams doesn't make alot of differences unless you are chasing very big No. s. but head recondition and valve springs are must if you are looking to run high boost. Check my thread for what my factory valve springs did over 22psi of boost over time.

Thanks for all your help but I havent actually read what you said

Stao is in Melbourne.

"I Used Reflex engineering for engine rebore, short block building and head reconditioning: 93054807

AMR work shop for assembly: 93866196"

Zebra also said Racepace have a very good reputation in melbourne but it wont be cheap.

There are plenty of workshops in melbourne that will do the work but I would say most would have mixed feedback depending on who you spoke to.

Why wouldnt you get reflex to assemble it?

Because most people haven't used them before so they can't give you your opinion.

This is the most crucial step, finding a builder/assembler who knows that they are doing. I would bite the bullet and go with race-pace, their customers engine do all the talking.

Has anyone used Manley or mahle parts for there rebuild?

The issue isn't the parts, it is who puts it together.

Do what was suggested earlier, go to a workshop with a known reputation and get them to do everything and buy a motor with a warranty. If you go to 10 different places with parts they don't like no one will warrant it and there is a high chance it won't work as everyone 'only' did their part and can all blame each other when it breaks, they also won't have any sense of responsibility as they aren't building a motor, they are just doing one small part of it.

You also don't have to research what parts to use and possibly get it wrong, they will have a tried and true recipe that they know works and will provide a guarantee with.
