yeah i thought of steel wool but what worries me is it might spit the tip as i wouldnt put it before muffler as if it moves it will get stuck in muffler cause i want to remove it after test

I was advised to use metal flyscreen gauze.

Unbolt some exhaust maybe behind the cat, bundle it up inside and bolt it in place and use a little exhaust putty goo stuff to hide it.

Don't flog it hard and remove it when your done.

Haven't tried it but it's so crazy, it might just work.

ill just use the baffle plate i used a quick db tester on my iphone about a 1 meter away and revved it to 4500rpm and it reached 102db but i dont know how accurate the db tester would be but it gives me a rough idea

I have a silencer piece for a 3" pipe that should fit if you're keen, it makes your car quite as can be.

It just slides in and can bolt on of required I've given it some tests and doesn't come loose easily of your car has an offbeat to its idle it will really pick up on that though.

FYI, I had to put a baffled flange in before AND after my cat as well as a silencer in my cannon muffler to get over the pits.

That was on my Legnum with 2.5"/2.75" front pipes into a 3" catback, no resonators etc. Granted the 6A13TT was louder then my old RB25DET NEO but it still took quite a bitb to shut it up.

Hmmm with the NEO it made it so quite that when giving it some you didn't hear the exhaust almost at all and all you could hear was the engine.

I don't know if it's just my car because of its setup still being 90% stock but it's super quite you barely hear it idle.

Hopefully a baffle plate should work on mine if not I'll put a silencer in the tip as mine is a dumpy not a cannon

My R34 just had an X-Force 3" stainless system but was pretty angry IMO.

    • I don’t really have any ideas how to set the timing on the CAS 😂, sounds like the top, sounds like it maybe misfiring as well as ticking,  got the box sorted 😌, must of been a air bubble on the clutch side
    • Use a 2' length of hose (that's 2 foot, not 2 inches) as a stethoscope to localise the source of the ticking. From cam covers? From exhaust or turbo manifold gasket? From injectors? From lower down in the engine? Etc. Use a timing light to set the timing. Put Redline Lightweight Shockproof in the box. It's not the very best thing for the box, but it will take a box that refuses to engage a gear with other oil, and make it engage a gear. I had to put it in when I installed the R33 box I have in my car. It would not select ANY gear when running. Smurf jizz made it work. That was >10 years ago and I still use it. I'm stuck with it now. Failing that - rebuild the box.
    • Well done Duncan. The fuel tank bulkhead lid is also in great condition (some of mine were stuffed). These are now out of production and good ones like that are becoming hard to come by.
    • Wow that's a steal, you've done well there.
