hks33
Hey Stagea owners, Doing a bit of birthday and christmas shopping for myself and interested in purchasing a short shifter, I'm aware of the damage they may cause to syncro's due to the fast shift rate. Currently looking at Nismo's selection of short shifters in the following link http://www.nengun.com/nismo/short-shift wondering as to which short shifter i should be using for my Rsfour S. Have been doing quite a bit of reading and confused as to whether or not my car uses the 34gt-t transmission with the neo motor, or the 33gt-r transmission with the neo motor. Much appreciated. Cowboy1600
My Stag has a short shifter. The only thing I have to compare it to is my R33. I'd prefer a box without it. It's incredibly notchy and if you aren't perfect it shifts like a bastard. To be honest, assuming the shift would be the same as my 33, I'd prefer it without a short shifter. But I'm not sure it's apples and apples due to what I assume is a hardier box in the Stags to cope with AWD. hks33
Yeah i can understand what your saying, I would have thought the Stagea would have been a better base for a short shifter due to the heavy duty components as opposed to the R33 gtst transmission. Do you know what transmission the RSfour S uses? gt-r or gt-t... Cowboy1600
I assume it'd be more similar to a 33 GTR box the 34 GTT box. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/383049-nismo-short-shifter-question/#findComment-6110422 Share on other sites
KiwiRS4T
^^^as above - none of the shifters in the Nengun ad will fit - you need an awd one 32339 - RN595 The Stagea box is the same as GTR which is the same as GTT only plus a transfer case so I guess it will be the same to drive (i.e. incredibly notchy etc). hks33
Just love the solid feel it gives you when shifting and the shorter throw distance, it makes shifting so much more easier with a nismo equipped short shofter Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/383049-nismo-short-shifter-question/#findComment-6128884 Share on other sites

pipster11
i have no issues daily driving with mine i don't use it to change gears faster, if anything it makes it harder to shift fast because you have less leverage to push against the syncros with i put a stock shifter in and it was a longer throw than my r31 and felt like a truck! so i went back to the short shifter it just makes the gearbox feel nice and tight and means you can change gears with a flick of your wrist Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/383049-nismo-short-shifter-question/#findComment-6129570 Share on other sites
Cowboy1600
Just love the solid feel it gives you when shifting and the shorter throw distance, it makes shifting so much more easier with a nismo equipped short shofter I assume, based on this thread, you've never driven a Stag with a solid shifter. Not all cars are the same. Save your cash. By all mean shorten the shift, but don't go for a solid. And shorter and solid actually making shifting harder as you need to push the level harder due to less leverage and also have to be much more precise due to the solid. I'm loathe to say they are shit, but it's not far from the truth. RS4-S
^^wtf? solid shifter makes it harder to shift??? pfft. the nismo solid shifter is 7.5mm shorter than standard (faark all) and the solid part is refering to NOT being a 2 piece shaft with a rubber dampener in the guts of it. aka one piece of SOLID metal shifter the short/quick shifter changes the pivot point so you have LESS leverage and LESS distance for the shifter to travel, hence more force needed to make it shift. its all about user preference really, some of us dont like burying our hand in the back seat changing into 2nd.
