Hi Guys, Newbie here so ill take the necessary flack if this was posted somewhere before; just point me in the right direction if it was already posted.

Waiting for my 09 250GT and was wondering what options have when it comes to the following:

1. An intake system (was looking at R2C Performance and Stillen Gen3 but i don't know if those would fit)

2. An exhaust system, whilst i want the power I don't want the noise so I'm willing to sacrifice power for db level on this one.

3. Brake upgrade system (not a big brake kit) but one that can withstand hard mountain side driving without brake fade and add better stopping power.

In the end if I can get 20-30 rwHP more without sounding like a 19yr old on the road I'll be happy (apologies to all 19yr olds)

The upgrade options should require little or no modifications to the car itself.

What options to I have?

Thanks in advance.

I'm confused, if you want more performance, why did you buy the 250GT? The 350 or 370GT would have been a better option.

Sorry, not sure what options are available to you.

EXACTLY what I was thinking. Why would you bother?

Comes down to one word ... "cost"

Our import laws are based on engine capacity and age of vehicle. So on my budget it was either this or a 2005 350 GT or relatively high mileage 2006.

So with that said, im not trying to set a land speed record, 20-30 hp and some decent brakes would do me just fine for now.

Coming from a Subaru Legacy GT so need to make up for the loss of power and added weight.

Any help is appreciated.

Looking at it i figured I'd need a bit more, but this looked like the best way to start.

Any ideas, the Stillen Gen3 or R2C intakes look to be the choice for the G37 guys in the US, but I'm not sure of the fit for the RHD.

Anyone have any suggestions.

Not trying to put a damer on your question, but I am not sure if there is anyone else on here with a V36 250GT. There are a few wtih V35 250GTs, but they run the VQ25DD engine. You have the VQ25HR, so performance items might not be interchangable.

The US forums may be your best bet for further info, there are probably a few 2.5L G37 owners on there, especially as you have mentioned the items above.

Why did u get a 250gt?? U should of just got a 350gt and you would been much happier and not have to go thru this.. Lol..

^^ See two posts before this.

Anyways I think I get the idea, i'll see what what G25 owners are saying.

Thanks everyone

    • CTIS (Central Tire Inflation System) has existed since the 80's. I'm looking into buying a Hummer H1 and they generally included it.
    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
    • Fark the AFM card and Nistune, Haltech Nexus S3, DBW, cruise control, flex fuel, dis dat.
    • It's most likely the bolt/bush where the cover bolts back wore and allowed cover to move forward.
    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
