Due to my partner and i having a baby; i decided to sell my baby.

I was wondering if any of you guys would have any tips that may help me sell the car.

I know it might take a while for the right buyer to come around.

2004 HV35 300GT sedan; black on black. 56xxxx km so far... first owner in Aus.

Pretty stock; only mods : rear muffler replaced with straight pipe, tinted windows, black 19's low profile.

Car has always looked after, garaged, weekly wash.

What would be a reasonable price for the car and any tips?

Cheers

Sorry to say it but, around $15k would be my guess. There are plenty around cheaper than that, but black on black is the most popular colour. With plenty of V35 coupes around asking $20k, there always needs to be a decent gap between the coupe and sedan.

As for selling, put it in as many media as possible and go sit it on a main road in a very visible spot, with the price on the windscreen . So many people have no idea what our cars are or what they are worth - I would suggest the roadside ad is your best bet. Sit with the car for an afternoon even and talk to people who stop and look. You can't truly appreciate how cool V35s until you sit in one or drive one - the hard part is getting someone in the door (so to speak).

i did some research and there is no 2004 sedans for sale and most of the cars for sale online look really ... not so appealing if i may; high km, very very stock and asking for 18k.

I was thinking more along the lines of 18 to 20k.

I think i will get for sale stickers and hopefully get people's attention.

As a comparison, I paid $19k for my Silver (black interior)2005 350GT 6sp manual sedan with 72,000km about 3 months ago, interior is very neat and the exterior is almost perfect.

Black is a popular colour, so that is a plus for you, but a 300GT auto will knock off a few thousand at least, and unless it is a late 2004, it will be a Series1, which will also reduce the value.

Also be aware the 19in rims and exhaust system may reduce your customer base to younger buyers, who generally don't want to spend top $.

I agree with Nightcrawler, a majority of the population don't even know these cars exist, so exposure is likely the key to a quick sale at a decent price.

I read this & thought "doesn't he know that's illegal in this country", lol.

Good luck with the car sale.

Haha attract P platers...

I myself am an old P plater (Late bloomer) ; thus why i got a 300GT instead of 350GT.

The exhaust was done because i wanted a small note. I am not a fan of those big loud exhaust.

Hopefully this car will appeal to professionals looking for a luxury sports car.

I'm not sure why i need to sell the car.

At the moment it will be fine financially but i am thinking more long term.

Insurance at the moment is about 260 a month and petrol ...

I may be overreacting in terms of finances but id rather be on the safe than the sorry side.

$260 a month!!!?? 3 months worth more than covers my insurance for a year!

I guess that's what happens when a P plater owns an import?

I didn't think Petrol would be that bad on a 300gt? My 350gt is quite reasonable at 11-12 L/100km

I will be 26 soon so hopefully that will go down.

Else i will get ma GF to be the primary driver n ill be secondary driver. She is rating 1.

I was waiting for her to be a rating 1 for like but she had to put a claim through so she will be rating 1 for a little bit longer.

According to the Carpc i am doing about 9.2L/100km which is about 80 bucks a week for petrol.(Coles Vpower)

i am expecting a baby in Jan, but still wont be selling my 350GT coupe, mrs want it gone but i have taken the responsibility to take the baby in and out of the car.......so she is ok with it....i know its going to be a bit annoying but u just have to deal with it....

^^^ just be aware that a rear facing baby capsule will NEVER fit in the back of a V35 coupe - so you will need another car exclusively for the bubs until it is 6+ months old and it can go into a forward facing seat.

Yeah man they struggle to fit in a 4wd. Go to a Red Cross or baby shop and measure the depth a rear facing newborn capsule is. Then go measure your back seat depth with the front seats in their normal position. I guarantee you it is not even close to a fit.

Not true, I took my baby home from the hospital in the V35 coupe and she drove around in a rear facing capsule in that car everyday of the week until we turned it around.
