so there's two people left fighting for the championship, whincup (2883) and lowndes (2725).

it was a very eventful race yesterday lets hope today is just as good, looks like no rain today but. :(

you wouldn't think that lowndes would be so close in the championship since you usually see whincup at the pointy end of the field. seems as though the few races i missed during the year were the ones where lowndes did well. would love to see lowndes get up and win the championship (would make up for when he should've won it back in a ford but rick kelly and skaife kept bumping him off the road at phillip island), but i don't think he will do it. whincup is better at qualifying so doesn't have to fight through traffic as much as lowndes, although lowndes' fight back yesterday in the rain was pretty good.

on a side note, it was interesting watching the masters racing before the v8 qualifying. pretty impressive for old rigs. only a second or 2 off the pace of what the group A GTR did back in the day. plus they sound awesome.

the only think that has cost lowndes was stacking when he went it to the pits and had to wait for whincup.

i lol'd when they called john bowe a sneaky bugger.

yeah he always gets boned by that. he would've won bathurst if it wasn't for the stacking. the fact that he and whincup generally aren't that far apart on the track means that he probably has to do it more often than any other driver

had to share this.

JASON Bargwanna and Shane van Gisbergen have been voted the dirtiest drivers in the field by their peers, according to the recently published Auto Action 2011 Drivers Poll.

The yearly poll, in which all 28 V8 Supercar drivers vote on various views, found James Courtney the most underperforming driver of the year, while his teammate Garth Tander was rated the fairest driver of the year.

The majority of drivers felt the standard of driving had improved this year, but they didn't believe that the stewards been fair and consistent.

See below for the results of the Auto Action 2011 Drivers Poll.

stole this off some news site.

Whincup goes into the final two races of the year in Sydney next month with a 188-point lead over Vodafone teammate Craig Lowndes after victory at Sandown Raceway today.

With 150 points on offer to each race winner in Sydney, Whincup needs only to hold a 151-point lead over Lowndes after the opening race there to secure his third V8 championship.

so whincup needs to crash in race one for lowndes to be in with a chance.

not surprising to see whincup and lowndes and 888 racing being the most respected and sort after team.

had paul morris been in the championship all year he would've gotten the dirtiest driver. he is fkn shocking. very little skill so just has to punch people off the road, then the moment he gets the slightest of taps he bitches about how bad the other drivers are.

and whincup would've gotten the hardest to pass award if it wasn't for the fact that he was either too far out in front to try and pass, or the one doing the passing making his way through the pack, lol.

Notice there was no mention of the NASCAR....wait I mean car of the future.

I can also see why they want to go overseas. The are 3 tracks in aus with decent facilities. Ec, pi and Bathurst

The rest are goat tracks compared to stuff os

yer is the cotf is the last nail in the coffin for the any participation of the car companys.

anyways good news Greg Murphy and Pepsi Max have re-signed with Kelly Racing for the 2012 V8 Supercars Championship.

Whincup set the fastest time of the day - a 1.27.3813 (a new practice lap record)- on his final flying lap, edging out Lowndes by just .09s.

they're here

fck me they look just like a commodore and a falcon.

i see they've gone to an IRS rear end as well as being 100kg lighter. no mention of new motors though. but it's good to see that they are interested in having other manufacturers join the field. pretty safe to say if any other manufacturer wants to join the field and win races they will have to get 888 racing to drive their car, LOL

irs + transaxle, they'll probably stay with there current v8's until ford and gm come out with there direct injection v8's i think.

mark skaife said the cotf handles like a porsche gt3 car on v8 xtra.

i walked into the bedroom, turned on the tv to see lowndes pulling into the pits after finishing the race. wasn't happy jan. i forgot it was on and decided to mow the lawn when i got home from work.

going to be a good race tomorrow. will take another unlucky day for lowndes to pull it off. i think whincup will be playing it safe tomorrow (not jumping kerbs). will be good to see lowndes driving to win though. i've always been a lowndes fan.

    • Also had a look at the Nissan JP website looks like the 400r has a slightly shorter ratio than than the regular V37 3.133 VS 2.937 which from a guy who has driven both 3.69 vs 4.11 ratios in the S15 is bugger all. Seems that the AUTO Z runs the same ratio as the 400R but can't find any info as to if its an open or LSD? More often than not the auto LSD is open
    • Do not replace the power steering lines with this stuff. If it's anything like the Chase Bays stuff it will leak and be worse than stock. The reason why the reservoir is on the LH/passenger side of the car is because that's just where the reservoir was most convenient to fit. Don't overthink this stuff. The intake/cold side of the engine is pretty busy on these cars. And again, the hardpipe is designed to be a janky power steering cooler. In theory you can replace it with a real power steering cooler but that's really only for track use where boiling the fluid is a distinct possibility. Start with the low pressure lines feeding the pump from the reservoir. Make sure there isn't a bunch of junk in the reservoir filter. Be careful to not get ATF all over the engine bay. I hate dealing with ATF spills, you can clean it up and the slightest crevice will still release more oil that can still drip over time. You also want to inspect for leaks before you make a mess and can't tell what happened. Most likely you have a leak somewhere that is allowing fluid out and air in. Failing that it's allowing air in but not fluid out. Only place I can really see that happening is on the low pressure side because the pump will pull a slight vacuum to draw fluid in. Everything after the pump is high pressure or lower pressure, approaching atmospheric by the time it returns to the reservoir.
    • I did a skidpan night at SMSP this week, it was much cheaper than $350. But yeah, you need to slap an LSD in that thing.  I put an OS Giken in the 370Z and it's f**king MARVELOUS even compared to Nissan's viscous LSD. So you're saying it's free now that it's a housing estate? 😂
    • Nah, the car seems to run exactly as it did prior, in saying this it does "seem" to be better down low, like more eager to rev, but that may be 100% placebo effect from intake noise But, I'm not worried about it at all, in the end it is a fairly low compression NA engine that has a well shrouded intake,  if it is getting hotter IAT I cannot notice anything negative performance wise from the seat of my pants thrashing it about on the street or sitting in traffic, so meh, car now now makes induction noise so I'm happy
    • Do you have an IAT sensor? It's worth checking it to see. You may be suprised how little gap you actually need to flood your engine with hot air. (I tape up my airbox for a reason) :p
