Crans
Got an adaptronic plugin ecu for my RB25, still using standard plenum and cooler to TB piping. Where can I connect the IAT sensor? As im not running a BOV(BOV is still bolted on but is blocked) i was thinging of making a blanking plate for where the BOV sits and screwing the sensor in there. Any one see any probles with that? Will it be too far away from the TB? Heat soak issues? zebra
needs airflow,, just screw it into the cross over pipe just before the throttle body Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/383522-air-temp-sensor-positioning-for-standard-rb25-piping/#findComment-6118042 Share on other sites
luvpsi
Imrunning microtech and my air temp sensor I drill a hole a tad smaller than needed and tapped it to the correct thread I did this on crossover pipe about 10cm away from tb Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/383522-air-temp-sensor-positioning-for-standard-rb25-piping/#findComment-6118106 Share on other sites
Crans
Ok cool i though the metal would have been too thin to tap. Where the BOV is it would still get airflow to it. Ill try tapping the pipe first i guess. luvpsi
Why are you removing bov oem Bov is better than any aftermarket bov and it wouldn't get the best airflow Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/383522-air-temp-sensor-positioning-for-standard-rb25-piping/#findComment-6118128 Share on other sites
luvpsi
Sorry it won't get the best airflow if tapped in where the bob is Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/383522-air-temp-sensor-positioning-for-standard-rb25-piping/#findComment-6118129 Share on other sites
Crans
BOV has been blanked off due to no return in the intake pipe. I now have a return so the standard BOV will be plumbed in now that i know i can just tap the pipe. luvpsi
yeah your best bet is to run stock BOV as its better than any aftermarket item yeah just tap it in it will be fine Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/383522-air-temp-sensor-positioning-for-standard-rb25-piping/#findComment-6118297 Share on other sites

Crans
I will buy some thread tapping gear and reconnect the stock BOV. Just gotta do this wire in my map sensor and my new Adaptronic plug in is ready for a tune. luvpsi
If you have not tapped a hole before I'd get your tuner to do it you don't want to stuff it and it leak Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/383522-air-temp-sensor-positioning-for-standard-rb25-piping/#findComment-6118604 Share on other sites
Crans
I've done it before just never metal this thin, also have a spare crossover pipe just incase. Will pressure test it aswell. luvpsi
It's not actually to thin it's thinner at the joiner areas the rest is almost 10mm thick Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/383522-air-temp-sensor-positioning-for-standard-rb25-piping/#findComment-6118618 Share on other sites

luvpsi
So the thread pitch you tapped is wrong only real way to fix it now is either helicoil or get a adaptor to make the size of sensor larger and make the hole bigger and retap Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/383522-air-temp-sensor-positioning-for-standard-rb25-piping/#findComment-6127960 Share on other sites
