Ouch... Did you inform them of fines and suspensions?

AND that was with their ADjust excess bullsh!t. Forget about my rating 1. Originally it was $3850 because apparently Victoria experiences a higher than Australian-average of natural weather disasters and 3106 is the ghetto....

I'm with Shannons and they are making me pay $1,750 with an agreed value of $18,000.....

Although I'm only 23 and has about 6 speeding fines and once lost of license lol.

Jesus...

I'd say go with Shannons... but I doubt they'd like your fines very much :/

Shannons quoted me $3100 last year and again this year with an agreed value of $65,000. My excess however is only $650. With Just Car I'm covered for $75,000 but my premium is $2850 and my excess is $2900 (using their Adjust premium thing to the max)..... Might have to use the old man's name in vain......Never made a claim but I'm still paying out of my ass like a teenager or someone in their early 20s.......almost $6000 insurance in 2 years for a car that's barely driven once a week, locked up, garaged, has GPS tracking and always parked in sight...... I'm trying Lumleys at the moment but it seems like they use a clueless underwriter - the woman I'm speaking to on the phone has no idea what a Titanium exhaust is and she wants me to list my modifications :/........

Interesting... Called them up. They won't come removely close to the Agreed Value Shannons were putting forward. So Lumley are still a waste of time unfortunately for a highly modded import smile.gif

Also got a quote out of Enthusiast Underwriting, they've met the Agreed Value that Shannons have offered, and have beaten the premium by $250. Excess is better also ($1000 vs $1500). They offer choice of repairer & one windscreen a year (if damaged)

Just going through the rest of the PDS at the moment.

Yes well Ash et al,

I stayed with Lumleys SV for a year > Went across to Dawes for a year > About to sign up with Shannons for next year - all on the same car...

Lol

i got a similar deal, 1680 for value of 18,000 at almost 23yrs. but there aint many pulsars valued above 10k lol. i think the only reason i got it so high is because Just Car had it down for 18500.

reported to them 3 speeding fines, but had about 5 or so + red light which I didnt mention... surprisingly they have an honesty system.

The Evo with Shannon's was insured for $25000 at $1000 for the year. And I was 22

fark u mang

looking forward to 65% discount with 3 years no claims. which is looking likely consider how often its off the road :P

Honesty system... yeah... right.. until something happens to your car and they put a call in to Vicroads and find out you've lied to them... Claim Denied.

Damn I'm getting ripped off by Shannons then :/ R33 with some mods, $13,000 for $1700'ish after the 10% CAMS licence discount.

I left JCI after dealing with them once for a not at fault repair job (when my door got ran into) because I didn't want to trust the other woman's insurance company to do the repair I got JCI to do it and on-charge it to her company. Repair wasn't great, they didn't want to help me get it fixed in an efficient manner... they said to book it in again (could be 2 weeks wait before the next available inspection slot) and then we'll inspect the repair and requote to fix it. f**k that, you're not having my car for another 2+ days just to fix a door / window alignment issue...

well i got the quote 6-10 months before I acted upon it. and when I recalled the quote, updated the mod list and had it issued, they didnt ask for any more information regarding fines. so as far as im concerned, what i stated was correct as of the date of the quote. ...i happened to have had a bad 6 months for fines after that is all. if it was a genuine concern for them, wouldnt they just contact vicroads and ask for that info? can be done over the phone.

Thought you only have to report if you ever had any accidents/claims in the last 5 years, and license loss in the last 3? Fines arent relevant because you still have your lisence until your points run out?

Anywhoo for a R34GTT agreed value of 16k its about $145 a month with RACV for 27yr Male

When I lost my license, I told them about it, then I told them about other fines I've had over the years, and she said that's fine...

But what is that 65% no claim discount that you guys are talking about? I think I've seen a date on my policy and that might be soon. But does that mean, if say... I pay $2000 now, and when it's 3 years, my premium will drop down to $900 a year?

    • Yeah, my moulds and seals are 32 years old now. I think I will continue to not use a pressure washer on it.
    • I hear the old "I'd never use a pressure washer on my motorbike" BS in the dirtbike community too.  The only people that have had a problem from using a pressure washer on anything are the people that aren't using them properly.  If you hold the wand any more than 45 cms away from pretty much anything (radiators, wiring connectors, paint, etc) you aren't going to cause any damage.  We've had detailers wreck moulds and seals on cars at work before and the only reason why is they held the pressure washer too close and on the one spot for too long.  If you have 5% more brain power than a detailer then you know not to not do that and you'll never have a problem.
    • I'm pretty much healed up post surgery so I spent another almost full day out in the shed re-arranging everything to make room for all of the shit that I've taken off the car.  I need to get everything off the floor and away from the car for when I start making a massive mess stripping off the remaining body deadener and then for the the painting process.  Almost got the shed to a point now where I feel I can actually start working on the car again (clean shed clean mind or something!).  Almost 11 years of accumulated car parts, building supplies, tools, junk, etc have taken a long time to get in some sort of order again!  Most stuff is now boxed up and in the back shed if it's not car related.  Most people would still be horrified walking into my shed but it's significantly better than it was before!   For those that saw my separate post the other day, yeah I ordered one.... This version- I convinced myself to stop being a clown, wake up to yourself and realise it will take you 5 weeks to make one by which stage you're over working on the car again...  Maybe I am getting on top of my "mental ailments" and making smarter choices.... $1450 delivered which will take my miserable half-dutch arse a few days to get over having spent that much!  If I don't have a use for it straight away after my car is off it I might even see if there is a "rental market" for them.  See if anyone wants to hire it for a period of time.  $25 a week or something like that.  I'll worry about that when my car is actually ready to come off it though as that might be a while away!! There's now no excuses now for not ending up with an underside you could eat off! Away for kids sport the next few weekends so hopefully can get the rotisserie assembled ready to go for the car to go straight on it the next available weekend.
    • I always use my Karcher, but it's only a little one that I picked up from Supercheap  The only issue I ever had with a pressure washer was when I was a kid cleaning coaches, they had a hi-po industrial sized petrol jobbie that would strip paint if you got to close I saying this, we have a fairly high power washer at work with a diesel powered heater that sprays water at about 60°c, it works great for removing old wax and road grime on the underbody after some foam cannon action, albeit from a "stand off" distance of a few feet
    • Sorry no - The sandtrap adventure ended the day, happened at the end of the last session. At that time I wasn't hearing any weird noises nor were the brakes shuddering anymore. It was only when watching the videos that I remembered I had these sounds early on!
