Have a stupid question that I can't find an answer for...

Have an R32 GTR that needs a new engine. Wondering if an R33 or R34 rb26 will go in easily without having to replace anything? My 32 has a power fc, would I need to change to an r33 or r34 power fc?

Cheers,

Drew

Awesome, that's exactly what I needed to hear!

Car is booked in to have the swap done in 2 weeks....better get my hands on an engine :S

So are you gonna get another Toyota or something completely different? I want clues!

Lol I know what that's like. I waited months and months to get my hands on a GTR....and then I spun a bearing in less than 36 hours of ownership. So now it's back to thumb twiddling until its fixed haha

Bourbons has a way of loosening the tongue :whistling: , that and a great woman! :P

I may be able to assist you Werdna Zeb_Drew. Thy shall not alert others of your thoughts

We shall see young Skywalker, may the force be with you :starwars:

Pulls hard hey - the car that is :) imagine an after market ECU :D

Back on topic

- yes definately buy a v good 32 or 33 RB26 or even a complete crate motor. Make certain it has the 33 crank/collar and a good oil pump. Drop straight in and problem solved.

Rebuilds are very expensive, (having gone this route twice myself).

ok lets back-track a little bit.....

so the new car is a JZA70 or is going to be a JZA70? are you getting it from canberra? coz i thought there were only about 10 A70's at most in the ACT lol

I WANT PICS!!!!! and also a ride in it coz i've never even been in a 1J powered car sad.gif lol

now back on topic.....it completely slipped my mind that late model R32 rb26's were ok. the problem we're having at the moment is tracking one down in good condition....

can you guys think of any places i can call? I'm waiting for import monster and justjap to get back to me at the moment but the toy shop said they don't really have anything

haha, the GF gave the nod of approval, so the new car will be the JZA70 :D

and Yes Canberra,

As for the RB26's, I would go for a R33 unit unless you can sight the long pump drive yourself

I think there are a couple forsale is the FS section on here, but I assume you want a warranty?

do you have any pics of it? all JZA70's were manual with the R154 yeah?

unfortunately i can't tell just by looking if the engine will have a long pump drive. but I'm not particularly fussed about a warranty. i only know of 1 complete rb26 being sold in the for sale section on here

    • The car revs up through the gears much better/faster now, and fuel consumption doesn't really seem to have be affected either on a Hwy cruise, which wasn't expected  The FAB9 intake manifold has been problematic sourcing though, I've contacted Plasmaman to ask about their intake, which you can get different runner lengths spec'd, and, their different options for throttle bodies  The only real physical drawback with the Plasmaman intake is how to connect it to my current OEM style airbox, as FAB9 make a OEM style back half of the airbox to suit the larger diameter throttle body, and all that is required is a 30°bend silicone pipe to mate the throttle body to the airbox Car also goes in for some exhaust work in a week or so to fit the biggest resonator they can fit clearance wise in the front pipe to help remove some of the drone, there isn't alot of realestate under there, a rough guesstimation is it will only be about 3-400mm long and maybe 90-100mm diameter, and with a 60mm exhaust that doesn't leave alot of space for the internal volume of the resonator to do its thing I'm thinking I may need to bin the "high flow" 100 cell cat for something a bit more substantial, yeah, and restrictive, like a 200-400 cell, to help, but, I have ample room for a really large bodied cat to replace the current one which has around a 4" diameter body I may look around in the recycling bins and see if I can find a massive newish cat that was "replaced" with some new full exhaust system that the local exhaust shop in Western Sydney is doing
    • Hahah look at that smile 😂 Just like those ones on IG where they compare the husband in family photos vs husband going fishing lol. I don't think I'll participate this time, clutch isn't in and also the last time I went there were too many numpties on the cruise sessions. Nearly caused a few accidents holding up people and a few guys initiating massive kerb to kerb drifts with heaps of cars right behind them. Not to mention, there were guys on the track session using it as a power cruise session.
    • Is there an actual website thingie for peoples who don't have Facebooks? Cheers
    • All Jap Day is coming up again! 13th of July this year. Are you going? Tickets go on sale on Wednesday 6pm. Please let Quang know as well. https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1163155775853542   I still get shit from my wife for this photo because it is the happiest she has ever seen me. And it's not with her, it's in someone else's car.   Quang's EVO is sick, but that rotary wagon flying past was absolutely bonkers.
