LotusGTR
G'day guys. I'll try and stick to the facts. Got the car back from having a fair bit of work done which included, amongst other things, the engine coming out. The only thing I can think of that's relevant to the misfire is the tune which was done as I had new dumps put on. It was OK at first but I think the misfire has progressed (I don't drive it a lot so hard to 100% suss it out) where it is now quite pronounced between 5800 - 6300. It's nmot noticeable in first, but in second and third you pick it up (I'm guessing first its not under as much load and it moves through the misfire range quickly). The upper end of that range is a guess as it actualy goes on to make power again, to the redline. So it's like its fluffing in that range only.....Now, the coilpacks were replaced with new Splitfires about 3 years ago, but I'd be lucky to have done 10,000klms since then so I'd expect them to be OK. Any guesses before I start problem solving with someone who is charging me for the pleasure? Thanks in advance. mattis96
check plugs first and gap them at 0.8mm, if still missing check coil packs Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/383904-32r-misfire/#findComment-6123954 Share on other sites
The Mafia
Wrap the coil packs in tape if the missing gets less, then you know it's the coil packs. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/383904-32r-misfire/#findComment-6123975 Share on other sites

LotusGTR
This. Also u said it had a tune. Is it still the same ecu? Same ECU. Power FC from about 4 years ago. Come to think of it the fuel pump was replaced too. It was a new Nismo item, pretty much a bolt in replacement with higher flow rate. Not sure if relevant. Prolly not. GTScotT
Pretty sure that will be plugs mate, check them out and even consider gapping lower than .8 if necessary (.6 works well) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/383904-32r-misfire/#findComment-6124009 Share on other sites
Brezza
it sounds like you just need your plugs gapped smaller. i had a similar issue with my GTR it was tuned fine on the dyno, but in some real driving conditions (on road, especially up hill) the car would miss. went back to tuner, he gapped the plugs down further and problem went away. i think the plugs were gapped to 0.7? LotusGTR
OK, I'm going to try the plugs and see how we go. I'll ask the workshop but may as well ask here what plugs to use. From memory reading these types of topics the go is to stick with copper plugs and not get anything fancy? Thanks. Gav
Lots of topics on this. Check by substitution from good car: * Coils * Ignitor * Coil harness (especially the grounding eyelet) * Plug heat range * Plug gap Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/383904-32r-misfire/#findComment-6142844 Share on other sites
