Hey guys, ive taken off the standard cross over pipe and replaced it with straight steel piping without a resonator box. Atm, from the throttle body there is a 45 degree 3inch silicon joiner, then about 30cm of metal pipe then a 3inch joiner, the AFM and a pod filter. As soon as i start the car it stalls instantly, if i rev it slightly it will run but very poorly and as soon as i take my foot off the accelerator the car stalls.

There are two hoses that are not connected to anything atm, on runs to the intake manifold and the other to the top of the cam covers, these at present are not joined to anything. how can this problem be fixed?

(Worst case senario, ill just put the standard cross over pipe back on. But would like to get this to work as have heard the induction noise using metal pipe sounds ok :P)

Thanks Nikk

It's the one running to the intake manifold if it is a largish hose than it is for the iac valve. Needs to be plumbed into the intake pipe

Thanks Zebra, so just anywhere after the AFM, and before the throttle body?

Haha i couldnt wait until tomoro, ended up using a piece of a different inlet manifold i had and plumbed it into the intake just before the throttle body, and then attached the ICV hose to it and connected it up. It sounds so good, the induction roar is very nice :) (Thanks again zebra for the help, would of been stuffed with a car that wouldnt idle other wise  )

hey man, im in sydney atm as soon as i get back to the car ill post some up. it looks pretty good, but the sound is amazing around 4grand on wot :)

Yeah would be good to see it on a r33.

i have only seen it done on r34's, I know its easy on a r34 because you only need 2 90 degree pipes and it sounds good aswell.

Cheers

    • I also built one, for a bit of a laugh. Pretty happy with it. Basically, obtained a clear garnish, painted it sanded back the paint off the letters, clear coated it. Inserted a 3cm EL strip through a slot I created in one end and sealed it up.

    • wow so i just logged back in after buying the 33 and joining SAU, And I've got all a whole bunch of you wanting to know more, well unfortunately it still doesn't run i was hoping it was seized from a snapped timing belt as i turned it over by hand and it was fine and then it did a few revolutions and jammed solid when i was running it with the key, so the timing belt is mint, I've also found a lot of the parts I'm removing have already got bolts undone or not quiet tight enough to be unsuspicious. so the plan is to find a running RB30 block and chuck my head on it.  I have a habit of buying stuff I don't need or require so for my none running engine i have a forward facing plenum , Apexi power fc, 40mm Turbosmart wastegate, And for the car its self coilovers ,low seat rails and BRZ seats (black seats with red stitching i already had these and they are ADR Approved and allow rear passengers access)
    • I took apart the dash and found this strange 2 pin connector. it dosen't seem like its factory or oem, any clue on why someone would add it and where it might have been connected too?
    • Not mention a SS2 especially with that rear oddly small rear housing. I feel the Facebook mechanics and experts has led OP in the wrong direction.
