Machining Fitting Surface Of Rims ?

Say you buy some rims you like and they are still a bit too wide after the usual guard mods, can you machine the fitting surface ( the part that touches the hub ) to remove some offset while still keeping the surface perfectly flat for a true fit. If so any places people know of in SA that can do this.

It can be done pretty easily, but make sure the rims have enough meat on the mounting surface to be able to do it.
