So whats the difference between the Toyota and Subaru? simply styling or motor whats the go?

I'm not saying that I wouldn't buy one, simply that I wouldn't wait until Feb for one.

Yeah that's right - no lies about the sell-out. And don't expect any discounts on them...

Should be lining up a nice little extended test drive through work over the next week or so, will report back with any interesting findings... :)

Did not expect these to be so cheap.

There really is no other cars competing in terms of bang for your buck, or is there?

And whoever linked the Subaru BRZ on the previous page exited me for a little there as the car was listed for 25000. Then i realised it was a US site so left dissapointed.

Sorry about the link, did the same thing actually, found it, posted it, then read it... For anyone who is chasing call Michael McNamara at Bathurst Toyota, tell him Ian sent you, they have 3-4 that are NOT spoken for. They did only find out the price yesterday though... 0263342224

I can imagine one of these with a nice turbo and FMIC, would make it a very, very nice car!

Let's hope no rich ass P platers get their hands on one of these and wrecks/rices them!

I've already seen pics of a Vic one written off...

I drove the first one we got in to work today. Spent a few hours with it going over it all and taking it for a spirited drive.

Firstly it does look pretty bloody nice in person. Really nice to sit in with decent seats. They really hold you in place which surpised me a little bit. Not exactly the most spacious car to be in though. I'm 6'2" and i had about 5mm clearance between my head and the roof which made it interesting going over bumpy roads. Anyone taller you wil definitely not be very comfortable and will more than likely be hurting your neck. Even without much head room i was very comfortable....there is no way you could say the same thing for anyone you try to stick in the back though

.

The rear seats are 100% useless even if you put a midget in there. With my seat in the right spot for me, it was all the way back on the rails and siting about 1cm from the rears. Was the same for the passenger side. There is just no way you will ever be able to put someone in the back seat.

Everything felt like it was in the right spot for me to enjoy the drive though and how many times are you likely to be carrying people around in a car like this but it would have been nice to have a little room for say the kids.

The gear box is nice and tight and feels like its about right for the engine to keep it in the power when your changing up. Started out a little notchy for the first 10k's or so (it came straight off the delivery truck) but after that it sarted to get nicer. It has a short throw which i enjoyed as it's what i was use to from previous cars i have owned. I found for me I would rather be sitting in third or forth around town depending on how you like your engine to rev but never 5th or 6th.

I was actually really happy with the handling and how well it stuck to the road. After the usual few k's of running it all in and driving around making sure everything was working fine, the way it should, I found a nice bit of windy road i could play on.

Gave it a fair boot full and the whole time it just handled so nicely. Obviously i couldnt go too insane but i was happy with how it handled the corners i put it through.

Cant say the same I'm very impressed with the engine though. It just fees like it needs something extra. I think it would have improved greatly with just a larger capacity but some sort of charger would have made it an absolute blast!! It pulled continuously the whole way to redline but it just didnt have that sort of punch or urge that i was hoping. It might grow on me once i get some more time to play with it but i was hoping for a bit more power wise.

Just a bit of info on the car.......The one i had was the base model GT manual in black with the 16inch rims.

Apparently we have an orange GTS on its way in the next week so too.

    • I did a skidpan night at SMSP this week, it was much cheaper than $350. But yeah, you need to slap an LSD in that thing.  I put an OS Giken in the 370Z and it's f**king MARVELOUS even compared to Nissan's viscous LSD. So you're saying it's free now that it's a housing estate? 😂
    • Nah, the car seems to run exactly as it did prior, in saying this it does "seem" to be better down low, like more eager to rev, but that may be 100% placebo effect from intake noise But, I'm not worried about it at all, in the end it is a fairly low compression NA engine that has a well shrouded intake,  if it is getting hotter IAT I cannot notice anything negative performance wise from the seat of my pants thrashing it about on the street or sitting in traffic, so meh, car now now makes induction noise so I'm happy
    • Do you have an IAT sensor? It's worth checking it to see. You may be suprised how little gap you actually need to flood your engine with hot air. (I tape up my airbox for a reason) :p
    • @KinkstaahKrinkle paint the "silver" alloy, not the red filter frame Engine bay heat won't be a issue worth worrying about as the silver alloy blocks it off on 3 sides, as for the top, the bonnet seals most of it and the big OEM CAI intake snorkel is still fitted in its original position  I will head into Clark's Rubber when I have some time to grab some pinch weld to tidy up the alloy after I paint it As for performance, I honestly wasn't expecting any, the only reason I got it is because the intake noise sounds cool to my old ears when I'm feeding it the beans Sometimes it's the silly things you do in in life that gives the most fun, and I do love anything that makes cool car noises In other news: I survived 4 nights at sea with Jackie not throwing me over board, holidays are continuing now as we are currently chilling at the Beachcomber in Toukley, after taking the coast roads from Sydney in the MX5, top down all the way, Toukley is where I spent a good deal of my youth holidaying during the summer months, there's lots of reminiscing going on,  and lots of beaches and old houses to visit Next on the list is to head to Batemans Bay for a few days, but we will take the Commodore out to stretch its legs, then Commodore hasn't really moved for months
    • There’s probably people who’d like to do it and then when it comes to putting their hands in their pockets they’ll all disappear into the shadows
