Well thats debatable.

If the Barca spec exhaust is so good, why didnt they run it in Melbourne? I have e feeling that RBR still doesnt have their exhausts solution nailed dawn, and that Mclaren and Mercedes definitely have the jump on them in that department

They must be using this session as an extended test, as track conditions will change massively over the next couple days

let's be frank- you could cut a faster 60 foot time in a Smart car running on 1 cylinder than Webber usually manages in an F1 car

let's be frank- you could cut a faster 60 foot time in a Smart car running on 1 cylinder than Webber usually manages in an F1 car

Never a more accurate word spoken.

Post Race after Melb was something along the lines of "gotta look at the start, not sure if it was the car or me"

LOL... We all know the answer.

Raikkonen gets five-place grid penalty in the Malaysian Grand Prix

Kimi Raikkonen is to lose five places on the grid for the Malaysian Grand Prix after a gearbox change following the second free practice.

Shortly after the session concluded, Lotus wrote on Twitter that an issue with the Finn's gearbox meant it would be changed before the start of the third and final practice session.

The team confirmed the change to AUTOSPORT, meaning Raikkonen looks set to lose five places. The problem arose after Raikkonen went off the track during the Australian Grand Prix,

where his radiator was filled with grass clippings, thus overheating the gearbox during the race.

A post-race analysis showed the gearbox's bearing cage had started to fail and so the team has been forced to replace it as it was unsure it would last another race distance.

The change follows an unhappy qualifying session in Australia, when the Finn failed to make it out of Q1 when he backed off a flying lap in the mistaken belief he had time to make it to the line before the chequered flag came out.

After a disappointing weekend in Australia, Felipe Massa was more upbeat after Friday's practice in which he used a new chassis.

"I started in the morning with a completely different car and it felt good," Massa told reporters.

"The car is more normal, so we can be more competitive here compared to [Fernando] Alonso."

lets be honest, ^ that"s going to be irrelevant when it rains.

    • I definitely agree with you there - I never click on content for cars I would never ever be able to get or compete with/against/be seen next to. Seeing a MX5 compete with a FD RX7 will make people upset though, for sure. Even in 2.5L Turbo form which is pretty grass roots. (or at least as grass roots as classic cars can be) Yes we're all classic car owners now.
    • Wonder what the cause is, but here's hoping it's nothing too serious.
    • People don't always want builds that are overly expensive, or have engineering/registration/insurance issues and head aches that come with them Whilst big dollar builds, and complicated stuff is interesting to watch, there is only a tiny % of people who would actually use this information, or have the spare finances to drop on said builds, whereas the buy a cheap(ish) cool car, and make it better, with a average budget, that the average Joe or Jane could achieve will always be a winner in my opinion
    • Bit of a thread revival, you mentioned wanting a bit more top end before, do you regret not going with the 1.01?
    • It's kind of interesting - They definitely do builds that split the difference between what they like and what will generate views and engagement. The NC Platform always surprises everyone in a good way, in an uncomfortably good way some may say. They could throw a LS in there and arguably have the best (and best performing) car of the entire stable. But that isn't necessarily what draws views, because people viewing don't want to accept the vegetables of a LS NC MX5 being a superior vehicle in every way (including fun) than a RB26 240Z. This is also why there's not a lot of content about the GR Yaris (on the web in general). They're too good, yet 'only a Yaris' The community doesn't want certain cars to be as good as they are - to beat their hero cars, and I believe the NC MX5 is absolutely one of those cars.
