Cheers!!!

Red Bull driver Mark Webber has revealed that whether or not he remains with the team will be determined by the results he achieves this season.

The Australian's future at the Championship-winning team has been the topic of much discussion - both this season and last - as he failed to match the performances of his team-mate, Sebastian Vettel.

As Webber only works on one-year deals with Red Bull, his contract comes up for renewal each season and this only adds to the speculation surrounding his position.

The 35-year-old reveals that it is purely results that will determine if he stays with the Milton Keynes outfit.

"The situation depends on the results I get this year," Webber is quoted as saying by Autosprint.

"They've been very inconsistent this year. Up to the Monaco GP I hadn't even been on the podium, then I won. But qualifying has so far gone very well for me.

"As far as I'm concerned, I'm driving very well, and I see no difference with last year's situation.

"Obviously there's plenty of people who would like to come to Red Bull, but the question we have to ask ourselves is: does the team really want to change?

"For sure that's a question for Christian (Horner) and Adrian (Newey). And for Dietrich (Mateschitz) and Helmut (Marko). Let's see what happens. I can only control what I do and so far I think I have done that very well.

"At the moment I don't have a contract for next year, just like at this time last year and just like the year before that," he added.

"Let's see how it ends up, but it can be the same again this year. That's what I mean, we don't need to go on the market because results speak for themselves."

Should Webber leave Red Bull, he has been linked with a move to Ferrari to replace the under-achieving Felipe Massa. However, Webber insists that no contact has been made with the Italian outfit.

"There's been nothing up to now," he asserted. "I have no offers from Ferrari. I know people were talking a lot about that, at least until Felipe [Massa] had a good weekend in Monte Carlo. But if it was all true, then Ferrari would need to field eight cars next year!"

Fernando Alonso's standing as the top earner in Formula One has been reinforced by his 19th spot on Forbes Magazine's highest-paid athletes list.

Earlier in the month, Business Book GP 2012 had Alonso earning almost double that of his nearest competitors in a figure that did not include endorsements.

In the Forbes list (which does include endorsements), the Spaniard once again leads the way.

Alonso is ranked 19th in the sports world, with total earnings of $32 million between June 2011 and June 2012. $29 million of this was made up of salary and winnings with an additional $3 million coming through endorsements.

While Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button were joint second on Business Book's list, it's Michael Schumacher who clocks in at joint 20th position overall and as the second-highest paid F1 driver according to Forbes. The German made $30 million - $20 million through salary and winnings and $10 million in endorsements.

Hamilton was in 24th position on the list with $28 million in earnings, $5 million of which comes through endorsements.

No other drivers feature in the top 100.

Boxer Floyd Mayweather topped the list.

    • I had some time over the last week  and decided to test if block filler will hold the blocks shape similar to a torque plate after the head has been removed. 1, 3 and 5 were measured at 9 points each before and after. MY goal was to see how much impact a torque plate has on the shape of the bore. The first set of measurements were taken with the main girdle and head off with no filler. The block was then filled with grout up to the water pump (half fill) and the girdle and head were torqued to spec. The block sat leveled for 7 days and was disassembled. The second set of measurements were then taken. Results are presented as the delta between the original and new value. All values in the PowerPoint are presented in inches because America. The largest changes were 0.0035 in or 0.0889 mm between cylinders 3 and 5. There may have been even greater changes if the block was filled to the top with grout. I hope this information is useful and I'm curious to hear what you guys think.       Notes: My block had the most wear in cylinders 3 and 4. Due to the amount of change in 3, I measured 2, 4 and 6 separately. 4 was also all over the place. 6 was similar to 1. They were not included to keep the test objective.
