have you watched this video?

schumacher basically did the F1 version of this at monaco

this is what a 7 times world champ is prepared to do to further his own cause

links to Schumacher faking serious injury, stopping competitors out of sheer worry for him in light of a recent death of a high profile rider on the track, and continuing the charade to the point the ambos stretcher him away?

yes, that's "basically" what Schumacher did alright.

its similar only in the extent that they both wanted to stop the proceedings for personal gain. In every other particular they differ entirely. Schumacher's car stalled when he locked up coming into a corner. He was penalised for unsporting conduct for the split-moment decision to park the car on the racing line to interupt the session rather than stay out of the way.

if Schumacher's incident was so bad, you wouldn't have felt the need to dredge up an obscure video of a bike rider pretending to be seriously hurt to make him appear worse...

oh... both wanted to stop the proceedings for personal gain... is that all? Just a minor footnote in the story then

That we're all ok with?

Clearly they are two separate events in physical appearance, as schumacher has four wheels, and if you look closely, this particular scumbag is only racing on two. Nor is it Monaco if you want to get pedantic about it

The motive, the willingness and sheer lack of sportsmanship is the issue

or manipulate others into fearing for his safety

or cause the ambos to rush to his assistance

or decide to do it after some time thinking about it while trying to get going again - it was a spur of the moment decision when his car konked out to park it on the racing line instead of the inside of the corner where he was. Once that was done there was no taking it back. Old mate on the bike consciously decided to fake it after some time tryign to pick the bike up. Very different things - spontaneous versus calculated.

yes, it was a @#$% act, but all he did was park his car in the most inconvenient spot, not decide to act like he'd been nearly killed, and keep the act up even when the ambos are carting him off! Its obviously not in the same league.

anyway, I'm hoping against hope Mercedes drop Rosberg who is on recent form the worse performing of their drivers, and we see Hamilton and Schuey go head to head next season in the same machinery. There will be tears! Even if token turns out to be faster I reckon the german will reduce his whining arse to tears at some stage during the season lol

Brawn and Schumacher go way back.

Car still needs development - no doubt Schumacher has more experience workign with a team to make a crap car better.

Rosberg is simply not turning out to be the world beater people hoped for.

Its an outside chance, but maybe Schuey isn't done yet...

His car did not konk out, he simply parked it in the most inconvenient spot in a premeditated attempt to shaft the entire field

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcRUM2w2CVY

That is almost the dictionary definition of cheating

So is faking an injury after an accidental crash worse than intentionally making a mockery of the worlds most prestigious motorsport event?

In my opinion what schumacher did was much worse

In my opinion, I love that something Schumacher the ruthless did 6yrs ago still butt-hurts his haters.

He tried to stooge Alonso out of pole in qualifying and got dumped to the back of the field for it. At the end of the day, it didn't hurt anyone but himself. Alonso still started from pole. What's to be so mad about all these years later?

That Saturday saw the worst of Schumacher, and Sunday showed the best - coming from last (not even on the grid, but in pit-lane) to finish 5th, battling for 4th right at the end, on a track notorious for being impossible to overtake.

Edited by hrd-hr30

I don't think anybody is upset that he did it, its more that it vindicates popular opinion

Nobody will remember he took 5th that year, only that he displayed the most unsportsmanlike like behavior in the sport for years

The only thing that topped that was some other guy trying to kill Rubens in Hungary not long ago. Don't know where he finished in the race though

it's true.

Sergio Perez gets Lewis Hamilton's McLaren seat

Lewis Hamilton's switch to Mercedes has been confirmed after McLaren announced that Sergio Perez is joining its squad for 2013.

Ahead of an official announcement from Mercedes about its driver line-up plans, McLaren ended weeks of speculation about Hamilton's plans with the Perez swoop.

Perez joins McLaren after two seasons in Formula 1 with Sauber, and a campaign where he has delivered three podium finishes so far, having come close to victory in the Malaysian Grand Prix.

The Mexican had been most strongly linked to a future at Ferrari, as part of its young driver programme, but its president Luca di Montezemolo said several times that he did not think the youngster was experienced enough for a team like Ferrari.

McLaren obviously feels differently, and believes that it can harness Perez's talent to fight for the world championship alongside Jenson Button in 2013.

Speaking about the multi-year agreement McLaren has signed with Perez, team principal Martin Whitmarsh said: "It was a string of giantkilling performances, a trio of podiums and a brilliant fastest lap in this year's Monaco Grand Prix that showed us that Sergio lacks nothing in terms of speed and commitment.

"We've been monitoring his progress carefully for some months - and, now that he's become part of the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team, our task will be to refine and develop his abilities as his career progresses over the coming years.

"Uniting Sergio alongside Jenson will give us a very broad base of driver ability. Jenson is one of motorsport's greatest ambassadors, and his unique blend of prodigious speed and canny racecraft makes him formidably well-armed to fight for victory on any grand prix circuit in the world.

"While Sergio is still developing his palette of skills, we're convinced that he's not only talented and quick, but also that he's willing and eager to learn.

"He's perfectly poised to develop into a world championship challenger. His addition to the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team provides us with the perfect two-pronged driver line-up for the new season."

Perez added: "I'm thrilled and delighted to have become a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver.

"The McLaren name is one of the greatest in the history of Formula 1. For more than 40 years, McLaren has been a team that every racing driver has aspired to drive for - I was brought up on the great stories of Ayrton Senna's many world championship triumphs for McLaren - and I'm truly honoured that they've chosen me to partner Jenson from 2013 onwards."

Harry... I am betting you were big at high school debates back in the day :)

I so hope Perez hands it to Hamo GP after GP....but good on Hamo for taking the plunge. I respect him for leaving McLaren for a team that has done nothing in its 10-14 whatever years in F1 except steal a 4-6 GP advantage with Button at the wheel.

Surprised it was Perez who McLaren signed....I thought the sponsorship clash would have pushed one of the FI drivers into the fold. I take it this means that Vodafone will be dropping their Mac sponsorship as some rumours have suggested earlier in the year and Mac will pic up Perez's telecom sponsorship

I also assume that jaime alguersuari will step up for the Sauber drive. You read it here first :)

..I will also add that Lewis best start getting to know JV as he will be able to tech him a thing or two about leaving a top team after winning one WDC and spending the rest of your career eating d1ck in the midfield

    • Only reason to keep a MAF on your RB25 is to be able to easily calculate true VE if you know what the factory voltage curve represents in grams per second of flow. Also allows you to do things like pull the original OEM ignition + AFR target tables and use those as a starting point for your base map. Once you're well and truly done tuning though there's no need to retain the MAF.
    • Do you think they'll merge there performance divisions and we'll end up HoMo?
    • Very true, if buying new, I would not get an PP either. Minimum is an Elite 2500, which is also considered outdated. Get something that supports DBW, delete that cable throttle. Best thing I've ever done to the Skyline, next best is refreshing the A/C with a new condenser. It's cold, but not as cold as modern car, but colder than most 90s JDM shit boxes imported into Australia.
    • Haltech have a nice comparison table between the Elite and Nexus models -  https://www.haltech.com/ecu-buyers-guide/ In general, the Nexus is better. Haltech have some nice product videos on their YouTube page, I'd have a look at those and if you're still not confident what way to go, I'd give them a call. They have the best customer support of any company I've dealt with, I'm sure they'll be able to help you out.
    • Not to mention, that the correct diagnostic approach to "electrical thing does not work" is to start with what I outlined above. You only do swaptronics for things that can't be tested really easily, like ignition coils, AFMs, etc etc. And even then you hold your breath in case the fault that possibly killed the original unit kills the swapped in unit too.
