tweety bird
Vijay Mallya is free to attend next weekend's Indian Grand Prix after an arrest warrant against him was withdrawn. Last week it emerged that an arrest warrant has been issued against Mallya and others involved in his Kingfisher Airlines after failing to appear in court when summoned. The matter related to a case filed by GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) after Kingfisher Airlines bounced four cheques worth over $1,9million to the consortium running the airport in the city. However, as the funds in question have now been paid in full the matter has been dropped. Kingfisher Airlines, though, remains a company in crisis as their planes have been grounded since the start of the month due to striking staff who have not been paid for several months. http://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227/8174737/Mallya-arrest-warrant-dropped Michael Schumacher says he will not compete in any other forms of motor racing after he leaves Formula 1 at the end of the season. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/103506 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/384282-formula-one-2012/page/244/#findComment-6585661 Share on other sites

Roy
Great to see my old town in the news. I love crazy Hyderabad. The officials in that town know the game. Use your position and title to make threats against a bloke with buckets of cash hiding it from creditors....get your lazy payout of a few hundred crore and case goes away and creditors still go without! Great system of democracy! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/384282-formula-one-2012/page/244/#findComment-6586176 Share on other sites

tweety bird
Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone remains fully behind plans for the New Jersey Grand Prix to take place in 2014, despite next year's event being dropped from the calendar. Race organisers announced on Friday that they have had to postpone their inaugural event because of construction issues at the venue. In a statement it said that some of the problems related to the development of facilities at the Hudson Riverfront venue, which included the pits and paddock. Although the delay has prompted doubts about the event ever taking place, Ecclestone has made it clear that he will do everything he can to ensure that the grand prix happens. "I remain totally committed to the Port Imperial race and its unique location and attributes, and we will continue to work closely together to realise our dream in 2014," he said. Race promoter Leo Hindery Jr said the decision to delay had come about because his staff wanted to ensure that when the race went ahead it was put on to the highest standard. "We are going to be racing at Port Imperial, unfortunately just not as soon as we hoped and expected," he explained. "We promised Governor Christie, the towns, the sport and its international fans the best possible experience, and unfortunately we need additional time to ensure that happens. "We remain 100 per cent committed to the Grand Prix of America at Port Imperial, and the race could have no better partner and friend than the CEO of Formula 1, Bernie Ecclestone. We benefit greatly from his experience and counsel and from his support." The loss of the New Jersey race means that there will be just 19 races on next year's calendar, with Ecclestone telling various media sources on Friday that he had no plans to find a replacement event. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/103548 so they have a track but no pit or paddock. f**ken americans.. Roy
Not a bad layout. Makes me wish that the ROC included some identical retro late 70s style F1 cars with manual boxes, and plenty of grunt and to see who can go 40 laps driving the things without missing gears, blowing up boxes, over revving engines etc Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/384282-formula-one-2012/page/244/#findComment-6591517 Share on other sites

Makes me wish that the ROC included some identical retro late 70s style F1 cars with manual boxes, and plenty of grunt and to see who can go 40 laps driving the things without missing gears, blowing up boxes, over revving engines etc i think most drivers of today would be a steaming mess after wrestling those things round a track., they were real men back then, all with little training and still time for a smoke and a drink after the race. the racers these days are getting too weak and have it too easy. tweety bird
McLaren are reportedly considering parting company with Mercedes and replacing them with Honda. German car giants Merc has supplied the Woking-based squad engines since the 1995 season and the two parties signed a new agreement in 2009 confirming that the "partnership may continue beyond 2015". However, it now appears McLaren are looking to replace Mercedes as they are not happy to stump up the £8million that the manufacturer is asking for their engines from next season. A source told The Sun that "there is no way McLaren will stay as a customer for Mercedes engines". Auto Motor und Sport claims that Japanese car manufacturer Honda - who was McLaren's supplier when they dominated the sport in the late 80s early 90s - is the likely replacement. The German publication reports that McLaren could team up with Honda when Formula 1 shifts to V6 turbo engines from the 2014 campaign. Meanwhile, racecar-engineering.com reveals that the Japanese company is interested in a return to F1 as a supplier the season after next. "The rumours are not unfounded but we have not decided anything, we are constantly evaluating the situation," a company source is quoted as saying. http://www.planetf1....-Merc-for-Honda- if that happens mclaren would be unstoppable imo. Roy
What, going with an engine manufacturer that would have to staff up with all new people to develop an engine for F1? They will make a good engine, but have no idea about KERS etc...but I cant see an engine making that big a difference to McLaren who will need o make the package work. I really hope someone picks up Cosworth and continues with it as a going concern. he name has far too much history to fade away. Hopefully the stories about the new engines not being use din 2014 get put to bed the next day or three in FIA and F1 discussions and the likes of Cosworth can sign people up for their engines.
