I'll admit, for the first time ever, i felt like DRS was kind of fake-ish and a little gimmicky

Which is strange because i am a big supporter of it, and kers

If you take Vettel's storming performance out of the race, the front pack kind of didnt really change... except for retiree's of course... so did DRS help the leaders? I dont think so, certainly only got Webber into more and more trouble

Nevertheless, really looking forward to Austin, the youtube vids looks great

if you're going round the outside of someone, don't pretend they're not there and take the apex! Can't blame Maldonardo for that!

You can race Button and Alonso around the outside and even Grosjean. I think Webber was a little ruthless on Maldanado and could have left him more space at Pastor was able to hang around but Massa did come back and sort of bash up in there, then hacked it on the exit.

well he's only 10pt ahead of Nando, so he could still lose it even just by not getting enough points from the last two race finishes

say Alonso wins both the final races, and Vettel comes second in both, he'd lose the title by 4 points

Massa had the inside, it's his corner. Contact was made wheel to wheel so there's no doubt Massa was well and truly there... There was still plenty of room outside for Mark to use when they collided. Massa hadn't even run him out of room when they made contact! Its just that Mark was too greedy and wouldn't give an inch. Trying to go round the outside is always a risk and takes 2 willing participants. Mark's been around long enough to know who's who...

I can't believe Mark didn't get a penalty for completing the pass off the circuit, short-cutting the course, and the dangerous re-entry to the track! Add in the avoidable collision, and there's a trifecta all in the one spot - yet no penalty at all.

Same goes for turning down on Maldonardo at the same corner.Another avoidable accident Mark caused. In previous races all season long that has been a drive-through!

He even blamed Grosjean for making contact with him! I think he shoulda gone to spec-savers...

and he didn't even see the lights go out at the start!

Two more races to go for Schuey.

The good part about his comeback is a new generation got to enjoy watching a Schumacher drive in F1 and for those old enough to remember we all got a little tear in the eye with the nostalgia of it all.

Such a shame he came back with the skills of Ralf and didn't get to drive for Toyota.

Have to agree wIth that post... the commentators even said that if massa hadn't spun, Webber would've been told to give the position back... in that case the penalty should be given regardless of what happened to massa

Yes well Massa bashing has been popular, but can't be justified in this instance.

1. The kerb is the racing line... 2. its not like he was understeering off the track. Even aftert the collision which took him further off line than he would have been Massa remained on the track. And 3. the Collision was wheel to wheel. Webber was further ahead at trun in, but because he was trying to go round the outside his corner speed was lower than Massa who had the racing line. So as they collided just after the apex, Massa was on the racing line and the cars were perfectly alongside each other. It's Massa's corner.

you guys need to watch the replay again...

the hack here is the guy who blew the start, turned into the guy he was attempting to pass round the outside the first time, then tried it again later without leaving room for the car on the racing line, shortcuts the track and completes the pass off course, cuts right across the other guy's nose as he rejoins the track straight to the racing line with no regard for any other drivers, and ultimately blames Grosjean for hitting him at the end as well! Complete hack.

Tony Fernandes has revealed that he will step down as Caterham team principal before the end of the 2012 season.

The Malaysian tycoon have been at the helm of the squad since they made their debut under the Lotus Racing banner in 2010, but he had always maintained that he didn't want to stay in the job on the long-term.

The 48-year-old, along with deputy chairman Dato' Kamarudin Meranun, has decided now is the right time to move on and focus on developing his road car business.

"On the racing side we have come to the conclusion that it is better if someone else takes over the team principal role to move forward," Fernandes said in an interview with Autocar.

"We are definitely better at business than finding tenths of seconds around a lap.

"It was right for us to lead the team initially and set a template of how it should be. That vision is now set and the team is ready to move forward to the midfield."

Although he refused to reveal who his successor will be, Fernandes says it will be someone in the Formula One circle.

"I know who it will be - and can tell you that today as I had confirmation earlier," he said.

"[but] I cannot tell you their name yet. All I can say is that they are from within F1."

good news there.

Yep, after watching that vid im convinced that nothing more than a racing incident

the initial tyre contact, while being unfriendly, only serves to send mark off track while massa is free to continue as usual

only once massa over rides the second kerb does he send himself into a spin

as per usual he'll use any excuse to shield himself from the truth of his own inability

    • Hows your intake piping? Are you still running stock? Having in the stock AFM position would mean, if the BOV was shut/venting out, it'd create the almost stalling kind of effect right // "the rich pulse behaviour" due to MAF thinking air is flowing ? But this would be better than having the bov in the stock position + MAF on/just before cross over piping right?
    • Essentially, yes. Although I wouldn't put the AFM on the crossover pipe. I'd want to put it into what amounts to the correct size tube, which is more easily done in the intercooler pipework. I bought a mount tube for card stile AFM that replaces the stock AFM - although being a cheap AliExpress knockoff, it had not flange and I had to make and weld my own. But it is the same length and diameter as the stock RB AFM, goes on my airbox, etc etc. I don't have a sick enough rig to warrant anything different, and the swap will take 5 minutes (when I finally get around to it and the injectors & the dyno tune).
    • So to summarise, the best thing to do is to move recirc to between turbo and IC, and maf on the crossover pipe. Meaning I'd need a recirc flange, drill a hole in the piping on turbo outlet area. And drill hole on crossover to fit/weld maf sensor? Either that or put the MAF on the turbo inlet right?  Is an aftermarket recirc/blowoff valve recommended? Do currently have family in Japan so could probably bring something back with maybe a cheeky lil SuperAutobacs run?
    • Yep, so far most have said that it looks like corrosion on the wall from piston not moving. Which then has probably damaged the oil rings and caused those vertical marks. The longest the engine was still after the rebuild, was the winter of 2018 - 2019, plus the boat trip to Japan. When I shipped the car, it had normal gas in the tank but before that winter pause, it had E85 in tank.  In any case, even if either one of those was the cause, it happened close to 6 years ago and the car has been driven something like 30 000kms after the fact. Again, apart from the plugs and the dip stick, there is nothing in the way the car runs that would indicate what has been going on in the engine. I am going to consult a shop and ask their opinion, what would be the best approach. I do have some access to a garage I could use to diagnose further myself, but time is very restrictive. Might end up buying another engine that could be used while this one is being remedied. Without pulling the head, it will be impossible to find out if it needs another bore, but here's to hoping a hone would suffice.  Goddamnit, I would really have preferred this not happening.
    • Boot is going to be replaced eventually. I just wire brushed what I could and rust converted. Then painted in rust kill primer. the spoiler also got repainted and plugs replaced on the ends. The under side of the bonnet is going to be black also, currently white. But red on the top side, same colour code as the silo to begin.
