Any One Got An Exemption For High Powered Vechicle Exemption

Recommended Posts

Hey fellas im in a bit of a pickle at the moment and was wondering if you guys could help !

Ill give you the story

Well about 6 months ago i got done for having high beams when not permitted and then about 1 month ago i got pinged for no seat belt. Now that racked up for demerit points and i have the option of losing my license for 6 months or going on a safe driver agreement for 3 yrs with 1 demerit point I live in SA and both of which will put me on the new laws which is no turbo powered cars even though the lil rb20's are weak. If any one has recieved an exemption i was wondering if they could put some tips in for the application. Here is what i was thinking so far

- I have an r32 gts4 which i have had before i lost my license but has never been regod in SA but states the vehicle was brought 3 months ago

- It is unreasonable to live at home. I have centrelink statements proving this. I am only 18 and on part time wages struggling to keep up with the bills

- As i live interdependently it is my transport (even though it hasnt been regoed in sa yet)

- I live pay by pay and no point selling a unregod car

- I lost my license for non hoon related driving and wasnt in the skyline

- Could probably get the boss to whip up a letter saying how he needs a car for work ?

- Possibly how its AWD

-Would a dyno sheet help ?

Is there anything else you guys can think of. Its not because i want a high powered vehicle. Its more the attachment i have for this car, I got a loan for this car and i hope to drive it again and not in 6 yrs time. everyone knows the rb20's aren't the quickest but yes ill admit plenty much power for the young 18 yr old. I have fallen for the sleek r32 curves. If only holden could of made vn's look as snazzy as the jap cars

I can't see why they would give you an exemption ... if they did, they could give everyone an exemption just because they like their car .... look at it from the cops point of view - I wouldn't think you have a leg to stand on. If you love the R32 look so much buy a non-turbo one or swap your for a non-turbo one + cash .... a bit harsh, but you asked our opinions :)

That's abit harsh defari. I agree with nightcrawler, swap it for a non turbo R32. I know what you mean about the 32's curves........i've got one myself.

Yes i understand i screwed up i dont need to be reminded. as its my only car i was wondering if they would / wouldnt. I am not getting an facts just people guessing. I mostly want to hear from people who my have got an exemption. Obviously i wouldnt write how sexy my car is. I would get a note from my boss saying how im on call and a car is needed etc.

so let me get this straight..

you broke the law on 2 counts (that you've admitted to).. and now you're asking people how you can still keep your r32...

u need to lose your license to learn your lesson.. catch a train/bus... cycle to work...

Yeah but they are not talking about taking your license - they are talking about not letting you drive a turbo car to help you not kill yourself for others .... they will just tell you to buy a car that complies with your licensing level. And to say to them "it is just a little RB20" is stupid - they know damn well that with minor tweaks and upgrades RB20s can make 200rwkw .... significantly more power to weight than they deem acceptable for a P plate driver.

I dont see the need to be such an ass about it. Most people my age would be like those stupid farkin p1gs etc etc. Yea i know i broke the law and im sure you have to whether you like to admit it or not. You dont know me and as far as i can tell i HAVE learnt my lesson. I even have a letter on the dash saying wear your farkin seatbelt. Mistakes are how you learn (well the hard way at least) I live by myself, I had my license with the old laws so it was legal to purchase this car and that is why i got it. None of my offenses were in the skyline which i know doesnt matter but as stated i just want to know who has got an exemption not how i break the law and need to learn a lesson gahhhh

im not being an ass.. im merely stating what you have said.. but from a magistrates/police point of view..

yes i understand you're young.. you've got a car that you like and that you've probably spent way to much time/$$$ on... but unfortunately thats how you will learn.. lose your license for 6 months... you'll never make the mistake again.. am i right?? if so then stop complaining... all credit to you if you find some loop hole that allows you to keep your license.. just dont come back here with another thread that goes like "hi i had an exemption and im a retard and didnt learn my lesson and i got done again.. can i get another exemption" thread...

and yes.. i lost a few points and some cash when i was young just like yourself... i didnt whinge about it.. i paid the fine.. lost the points.. havent made that mistake again.. why? because i learnt my lesson...

perhaps its worth a few dollars to speak to a Lawyer??

Many years ago when I was faced with loss of licence it cost me about $400 for a lawyer to represent me in court. Spend a couple of hundred bucks for some good legal advice.... its better than selling your car!

Thats good to hear thats what I have done. I dont want to not drive this vechicle I have chose a safe driver agreement which means I can still drive but with one point for 3 yrs and cant drive the sky for 6. Now if you didnt understood me ill give another quick run down. I support my self, my car is my life line whether it be work, groceries, getting the washing dryed in time etc. Yes I could probably make do with out. But it would make my life alot harder than it already is ( no im not having a winge ) but I have a question for you. Would you sell your current 33 for another car at a large loss to you fiancally and emotionally. Call me gay I dont care but I love the car but its not the only reason I needs it. I would like to talk to a judge about it but apparently they have no say in it e.g if I f**k up in the sky then cya later exemption and I just wait but who knows maybe I will get lucky and shit will work out

how does having a skyline vs another coupe/sedan make it harder than it already is? you could get a piece of shit r31 for a grand.. still gets you from A to B.. its still a skyline... or is it not a "cool" looking skyline compared to your r32..

and yes.. if push came to shove and i needed the cash.. i'd sell my car... yeah sure i'd be gutted about not having my skyline.. but that would inspire me to get another one, and to hold onto my license.. and to obey common sense laws like putting on a seatbelt

+1 some of you guys need to get down off your high horses.

High beams and seatbelt are fairly minor in the scheme of things, I'd be asking for an exemption in your circumstances, although as HOSTILE suggested, you'll need a lawyer if you want a magistrate to take you seriously.

Maybe a lawyer to make the application ? Look mate i get the whole seatbelt thing. One of those things. Better no seatbelt then roarin up the main st with music blaring etc etc honestly in my opinion i think loosing your license over no seatbelt is crap but thats the way it is

get a lawyer. i still dont rekon theyll give you an exemption but you definitely wont get one without a lawyer.

oh yeah and dont let the haters get to you. they just cant accept the fact that they arent perfect

Only one person dissing in this thread................and to that person, you've said enough mate. Unless you've got anything constructive to offer, stay out of this thread please.

On the lawyer issue, my personal opinion, save your money.........no way will a Magistrate grant you any form of exemption based on the reasons you've just given unfortunately.

Goodluck with it bud
